Terrain: Oasis in the Land of Wind; miles from any village. There's a pool of water, about five palm trees scattered around the pool, and then everything else is sand and scorching sun
Range: We start at mid, on either sides of the pool
Mystogan - "Mask" in sig
I do enjoy RP, so let's try to incorporate that, shall we?

Kneeling by the pool, Mystogan scooped some water from the clear source and drank from it, his mask pulled down under his chin to allow him to drink. Then, Mystogan pulled the cloth mask up over the bridge of his nose, the way it always is. Standing up, Mystogan holds himself upright by leaning on his staff topped with an eye; even if the heat wasn't playing a major factor in exhausting him, Mystogan still didn't want to waste unnecessary energy in a place where it would be hard to recuperate. Also, he wished to appear weak and tired before his opponent showed up, luring him into a false sense of security.
The man who broke my staff... I don't know who or where he is, but I will find him, and I will defeat him... And this fight will only help my cause!

Sabo is sprinting through the desert, running at full speed. He clenches his fists and grits his teeth until he is forced to take in some air. After running for a while he stops, bends down, placing his hands on his knees and gasping for air. "That was a good run." He dropped onto the ground lying on the warm sand looking up at the beautiful blue sky. He couldn't help it. He stuffed his hand into the pocket of his coat, retrieved his 'Adventure Book' and a pencil. He flicked through the book and got to an empty page. He drew a big bright sun at the top of the page and began writing under it about the desert. He managed to be detailed in the description, making sure to mention everything he encountered throughout his long run. He then pulled his body up from the ground and took his goggles off and he fixes them around the body of his top hat. He wiped his forehead and rubbed his eyes. "There's no way..." Sabo's face lit up with excitement and a huge grin appeared across his face when he saw the palm trees sticking up from the lifeless grains of sand. Sabo didn't care, he needs that water. Again he started off at full sprint towards the Oasis not thinking about anything else. "YATA!!!" Just when he was near the Oasis he took a massive leap and dived into the refreshing water.

Looking out over the small pool of water, Mystogan stared at the child-like man... As his top hat floated in the water above where he had dived, the man swam about the oasis, making Mystogan glad he had taken a drink before his opponent had shown up.

Mystogan walked down to the water's edge, using his staff like a walking cane in the sliding sand. As he waited for a response, Mystogan pondered the heat of the sun, beating down upon him, and knew that somewhere, the Great Beast Juubi was trapped in the ice-cold moon. The thought that he and the Juubi were two halves of the Yin and Yang, at this moment especially, made him wonder at the majesty of just how the universe worked. Of course, when the man spoke, Mystogan snapped from his day-dream instantly.

Sabo popped his head above the water where his hat was floating so that it would again sit perfectly upon his head. He then turned around and pulled himself out of the pool. He now stood face to face, both men on the edge of the water at their respective sides. "Yeah, I got your letter. You want an improvement fight?"

That would be ideal... But can you provide the pressure in which I would improve?
Under his mask, Mystogan smirked. A challenge, and hopefully one which would make this top-hat man angry and encourage an attack. The only way for Mystogan to ever improve is for people to come at him as if they were fighting for their lives, and as far as Mystogan could tell, many people valued their pride as high, or higher than their lives.
So what do you say... Under the hot sun, can you defeat a man bent over on his staff, wearing several unnecessary layers of clothing?
Mystogan then squinted his eyes as he stared through heat waves at the young man, attempting to look as threatening as he could, even though it was highly unlikely that at that distance his eyes were even visible.
I don't think you can.

I don't think you can.

"Well, you see I've only gotten about thirty pages into my 'Adventure Book'. Defeating you would boost me up to maybe around forty-five to fifty pages. Then again losing to you would get me to around the same amount. I have two goals in my head at the moment. Write more about my adventures in my book and get the most out of this fight as I possibly can. So now the question is, can I beat you? We'll just have to find that minor detail out on our own won't we?" As Sabo says this he lightly releases wind chakra around his body to act like a drier for his clothes (Just like in Back to the Future Part 2). Sabo then tips his top hat up so that he peers through the heat waves over to his unnecessarily clothed friend. "I know we Nekura are supposed to have dull, pissy personalities but I can't help it, I'm fun and creative. What are ya gonna do eh?" Sabo shrugs his shoulders and sighs. "Now, let's find that answer, shall we?"

Supposed to? No matter who you are, you are supposed to be who you are, and who you naturally want to be; your lineage or clan alliance has no impact on what you're supposed to do. Now, generally many clans consist of clansmen with similar personalities, but they are not forced to be that way. However, once you have begun your training with Keigoku, the sheer overwhelming force of hatred, anger, negative emotions and power will consume your very soul, and your minor faults will become what defines you! For a time, at least... For while you are in control of the great power of the Juubi; as you can see, right now I appear to fairly normal... But my hatred of certain people, my lust to kill them, manifests itself as sheer and utter vengeance and blood-lust when the Juubi's power begins to corrupt me-! But enough of my rant... We can for a spar, did we not?
Acting as though the heat were making him weak, Mystogan reached into a pouch at his hip and brought out a kunai, tossing it into the air as though his attempt to throw the projectile had utterly failed. As the lobbed kunai, clearly never going to make it anywhere near the boy with a top-hat, flew into the air, the bright sun was caught on its metallic edges, creating a large shine. As Mystogan noted when the shine would be bright in his opponent's direction, he quickly took his hands off of his staff, planted in the sand, and wove together four handseals, creating a bright light from all around his body. As he was weaving the handseals, Mystogan kept his back hunched over as if he were still leaning upon his staff. Then, as the boy would be distracted by the bright light, Mystogan made one handseal, grabbing onto his staff as the technique took effect. As his body turned invisible, about the time that the boy's vision would have cleared, Mystogan stood across oasis from him, grinning under his mask.
He says he is of my clan, then Genjutsu is of no consequence to him... However, should I craft my own Genjutsu from things which exist, that's a different story...
Then, as Mystogan's kunai lands in the water source between the two fighters, just short of half-way across, Mystogan channels his Suiton chakra into the water, creating a large wave originating from the spot the kunai entered the water, making it appear as though it were the kunai which stirred up as much water as was created. The large wave rose up and came down on top of the top-hatted boy, while only the normal "splash" was seen in Mystogan's direction.

Description: This is a ninja escape technique that allows the user after performing the Tiger hand seal to control how light is reflected around their body with chakra inflections. The technique also erases the user's scent and shadow, and is usable on any terrain, making it ideal not only for covert maneuvers but also offensive strikes. Perceiving the user's position is possible only for ninja who are astute enough to observe minute variations within their surrounding environment, such as distortions of air currents in the immediate vicinity or distinguishing sounds, i.e. footsteps etc. However, the usefulness of this ability can be entirely negated by those with special vision or sensory skills. The Second Tsuchikage, Mū's mastery of this technique helped earn him the moniker "Non-Person" seemingly having neither form nor chakra while the technique was active. Thus, he could not be sensed through traditional means.
