Local Tavern

Raiden casually sat on an armed chair, at the end of a table in a secluded part of the tavern. Four empty glasses grouped together near him, only for him to add another to the mix, just before waving his arm for his fifth. The Tavern was quite lively today, All parts but his seemed as boisterous as ever, yet it was not of coincidence his area was clear & silent. Looking closer in the shadows of the corner new comers would notice a pile of bodies laying upon each other; the occasional groaning being a relief to hear, Raiden would simply look over to the gazes while explaining.. "Dead bodies would be a downer now wouldn't they.." The others would simply let off a smile followed by a nervous chuckle, continuing on as their, quickly forgetting. Raiden carried on with himself. His elbows resting on top of the table as his katana was usually placed against the side of the chair, as if advertising it for others, maybe a test of common sense for the local thieves? or simply a warrant to keep those not disconcerted by the bodies away.

Outside the Tavern

A pink shade spread across the sky as the sun began to set. Lights began to flicker as the village was falling into the evening, the paths still bustling from the day's trade as everyone began to pack up & leave. The route just outside the tavern was filled with locals, wide enough for seats & tables to be placed outside it, allowing most to enjoy the breeze as they guzzled down the drink, some feeling nothing as a day of drinking left them numb all over.

Outskirts

Small clouds of dust swirled about in devilish patterns as each step kicked up dirt. The sun hung low in the sky, and Keotsu's waterskin hung empty. It had been a longer march from his last checkpoint to this down, having been deserted by a landslide on his traditional path that he took to this town. The roads in this area were known for being particularly safe, but it seemed flooding in the last months had established much of the mountain passes, leading to a dusty detour through an arid region at the base of the mountains in the distance.

Mouth dry, Keotsu huffed. More than anything else, he simply wanted a drink of something cold, and something hot in his belly. He patted his left shoulder with his right hand, beating the dust from the tattered brown cloak he wore, a tried in true traveling companion, much like the legendary sword on his hip. Taking off the straw hat he was using to fend off the brutal rays of the sun earlier in the day, Keotsu shook his head and let his long locks fall free, before rolling his shoulders. He could rest soon enough, recuperate, and then continue heading west.

At least, he though, the weather in town was incredibly pleasant, unlike the desert region he had just passed through.

Spotting a two story tavern which had a shield with a boar's head plastered outside as its emblem, Keotsu set forth, in hopes of refreshment in lodging for the night. He entered inside, his eyes slowly adjusting to the marginally dimmer lights inside.

Making his way in, few paid Keotsu a second glance, partially due to his soft features and young appearance. He did not exactly look like a legendary swordsman, which was perhaps a good thing. Taking a a seat at the bar, Keotsu waved down the bartender. "A pitcher of iced water so that I may fill my waterskin, if you may, and a glass of Burnt Casket, if you have it."

The bartender nodded and went away to gather Keotsu's drinks, while Keotsu turned around and leaned against the bar to observe its inhabitants.

The tavern only filled as more flocked in claiming a well deserved rest from the long day that had passed. It was only getting louder as all seemed to be in high spirits, not that Raiden was against it, but was wanting something less rowdy. Yet who could he blame but himself, a tavern is what he entered & the experience is what he would have to deal with if he expected to stay, it was a popular choice among such a small village. Irritated he glanced across the room seeming nothing different expect a single figure. Nothing drew attention to the stranger yet Raiden's gazed stopped as he noticed him, he did not assert himself as the others did, his demeanor was a calm one & he did not seem the typical villager, but more that of a traveler; his feet covered by patches of dirt; a straw hat placed on the bar, carved with 5 strikes across the front; his clothing seemed ruffed, as if having gone through a lot of trouble itself, leaving Raiden to ponder what the traveler himself dealt with.

It was nothing that would leave Raiden in interest, he himself was not a part of the village, just a regular passer on his own travels. His gaze lasted no longer than a few seconds, until he carried on scanning the room. As he once again faced front, looking over at the pile of bodies, he heard a loud roar sound across the entire tavern. A large grotesque man, seemingly a thug of sorts crashed through the entrance, strutting across the tavern with a group of men behind him, who simultaneously turn their path toward Raiden's location, filling up the seats that surrounded him. They shoved & pushed as they attempted to all fit in, a large gap being left for, what seemed to be their leader. A few were left standing, looking toward Raiden as if it were his fault, they walked toward him, leaving the rest to smirk & snicker as they waited for their fellow members to force themselves over the lone figure. Meanwhile the larger figure had made his way to the barkeep, striking both arms against the bar as if attacking it, forcing himself upon it as cracks spread across. He ordered over the bar keeper, spitting his choice of beverage as he could barely speak, a disgusting site but one the keeper had to bear. After having ordered he looked over toward the traveler, scanning him up & down as he notice the straw hat, carelessly reaching for it as if it had no one to claim it. Raiden's problem was nothing but bothersome, as the men continued to order him to leave his seat. He could not help but ignore them as he watched the leader by the bar, it peaked his interest, yet whether there was a point to it was about to be seen.

Keotsu watched as a rowdy bunch of men came into the Tavern. Judging by their general ruckus, they could either be just a group of jovial men looking for a drink, or a group of trouble makers that thought they owned the place. In his travels Keotsu had seen one group as much as the next.

When the largest man in the group - likely the leader by the way he carried himself - came to the bar, he placed his hands down upon the counter with an incredibly violent strike, cracking the wood itself. Keotsu couldn't help but notice several people around the bar flinch as he did so.

Ah, so that was the case, then.

The bartender seemed agitated and on guard as the man barked his order, and Keotsu watched as the large man picked up his hat, as if Keotsu hadn't been sitting there at all. He pulled on the string that one would used to secure it to their head...which, admittedly, irritated Keotsu. He had only gotten the fitting comfortable a few days ago.

"Can I have that back, please?" asked Keotsu, as he spun on his stool and looked up at the man, motioning to his hat.

The man simply bellowed a laugh and shoved Keotsu, hard enough to push him off of his stool from the position he was sitting in. Taking Keotsu's seat, the man purposefully took the hat, and started pulling bits of it off the hat, unraveling the woven straw piece by piece.

Yeah, no. Keotsu was too tired to deal with these sorts of shenanigans. He didn't want to hurt the man, but he would definitely be a nuisance. Standing up, Keotsu tapped the man on the shoulder, causing the man to give a clear agitated huff out, before turning around on the stool.

The man opened his mouth, either to boast, or yell, or tell off Keotsu, or perhaps to spout some story about how great he was, but he never got the chance to get it out. Keotsu tapped the man's temple with his finger, using the principles of ZX Buster, a style of Taijutsu he created to put a tremendous amount of force behind the simple action. Unless someone here was a highly trained warrior, the pulse of chakra that escaped Keotsu's finger would have gone unnoticed.

The man slumped over and fell off the stool, unconscious. Stepping over the man, Keotsu took his seat back, and nodded to the barkeeper, who seemed more stunned than afraid. Keotsu chose to ignore the silence that had suddenly overtaken the bar.

"He'll wake up in a few hours or so, probably with a nasty headache....," Keotsu frowned as he looked at the hat. It had served him well, and was still in good condition for its wear and tear. It would take him a few hours to re-weave the straw, as it wasn't something he was particullarly skilled at.

Keotsu spoke rather dejectedly as the bartender set a glass of iced water in front of Keotsu, as well as a bottle of the Burnt Casket whiskey he had asked for.

"I liked this hat..."

Raiden snickered in reaction as the burly figure effortlessly dropped to the ground. A wave of silence swept through the tavern beginning with his own crew, all whose reactions were expected, none dared respond against the attacker. Lips quivered; tears formed, it seemed the men were less brutish then expected in reaction to their bosses loss.

Raiden was unexpected in his own reaction, after his own amusement had past, he picked himself up grabbing hold of his weapon as he dragged it across the ground, closer & closer nearing the two figures by the bar. "Tsk" He came to a stop, leaning over the downed stranger, pressing his fingers against the neck having made sure a pulse remained.
"Well that is a waste!" Raiden slowly unsheathes his blade lifting it up as the sheath drops to the ground just as fast as the thug had. He runs the blade against the neck, the tip poking down into it as he continues to converse with the samurai "You want me to finish it? I don't mind, you don't seem like the type." He had no real care for killing the brute, he seemed more interested in the man who left him in this state with nothing more than a finger. He knew how but still, even for ninja control of that nature was a unique one.

"Ehh well", his right hand still gripping the hilt, he lifts his arm up, leaving the blade to dangle vertically from his hand, the point aiming for the middle of the neck. His arm slowly lifting higher reaching it's highest Raiden simply pauses for a moment, the murmurs had settled, even the poorly thugs fell pathetically quite, not even able to come to their master's aid.
His eyes alone, they took on a more sadistic look, of course it was his nature in these circumstances. His background was such a mess, barbaric if nothing else. Looking toward Keotsu Raiden's right hand twitched, enough for the common eye to notice, swiftly followed by his arm thrusting down as he went to stab through the neck.

"What you gonna do?.."
