The Jashinist grinned as he swiftly performs the tiger handsign and manipulates a portion of chakra to form as a replica of himself to his right standing on the nearby river. Hidan's clone quickly jumps into the air and rushes downwards at Asuma,scythe in hand as the original claps his hands into the Doton handsign, sends chakra into the earth and manipulating it to shake uncontrollably causing Asuma to begin to lose his balance.

He notices that his opponent has created a clone. Not knowing what kind of a clone it is, Asuma reacts by infusing his Wind Chakra into a shuriken and throwing it at the Original Hidan, ignoring the clone for the moment, not wanting to waste time nor chakra dealing with what could very well be a mere projection of Hidan.

Hidan's eyes widen slightly upon seeing the chakra-infused shuriken heading straight for him,he quickly reacts and dodges to the left as he quickly weaves a few more hand signs before charging chakra into his hands and firing it off in the form of electricity at Asuma to stun him. Hidan then rushes up towards the stunned Konoha-Nin and slashes at his left side with his scythe burying the blades deep within Asuma's ribs."How's that,eh!? Pain's addictive ain't it!"

As he sees the two cyclones rushing towards him,Hidan thinks to himself "If I can't dodge left or right,I'll just go down!" he quickly claps his hands into the earth style handsign as he exerts chakra into the ground below himself causing it to turn into sand allowing him to slip right down into it effectively dodging the incoming attacks. He then swiftly makes his way behind Asuma as he takes out a steel spear he had hidden inside his cloak before using a small portion of his chakra to make a small 5m pillar quickly raise from the ground underneath his opponent to knock him up into the air. As Asuma fell, Hidan jumps from below the grounds surface at Asuma and pierces his gut with the spear with a sadistic grin on his face.

Description: The user changes earth into fine sand by channeling chakra into it, allowing the user to dig through it like a mole. While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth. While inside the earth, the user cannot make handseals and can only use Earth techniques below C-Rank. If he tries to do a higher ranked technique, he'll disrupt the Hiding like a mole technique and be left crushed.

As Hidan disappears from his view, Asuma quickly deducts that there are two possible options, either he used a substitution Jutsu or he went down somehow.
Either way, Asuma knew that a surprise attack is coming, so he was mentally and physically ready to use a substitution jutsu if the need arises.
So the moment Asuma feels the earth moving underneath him, he quickly uses the substitution Jutsu, leaving a log falling towards the ground at the place he was just a moment ago.
Asuma moves to Mid Range, and creates an Earth Clone at the same time as Hidan emerges from the ground and strikes the wooden log with his spear. Hidan would have no way of knowing which one of the two is real seeing as how he was emerging from the ground at the time, his eyes focused on his target, which turned out to be a log.
He then throws an explosive Kunai, headed straight for Hidan's torso.

Upon piercing the log,Hidan's eyes widen in shock as he turns his head slightly to see the two Asumas. "You insult me with such cheap tric-......!" Asuma disrupts Hidan's brash statement by throwing the tagged kunai. The jashinst quickly moves the spear impaled log in front of his body to take the brunt of the impact from the explosion although pushing him back a few meters. "You'll pay for that you heathen!" He swiftly performs the tiger handseal and alters the ground in front of himself into slushy mud. The mud quickly cascades down the the battle field sweeping up Asuma and his clone and making them both crash into one of the protruding the rock structures. Next he alters a portion of the mud river into the shape of a dragon's head that fires concentrated orbs of mud at the recovering Asuma."Lets see you dodge this."Hidan says with a smirk

Asuma says nonchalantly, taking out a lighter, opening it, then closing it, and putting it back into his right pocket.
"Dodge w.."
Asuma was interrupted as mud appears underneath him.
He quickly reacts by raising a small pillar of earth from underneath, effectively putting him above the mud, out of harms way. The clone however, was not quite as lucky and got carried away, as it melted into mud itself.
As Hidan performs Ram → Horse → Dragon hand seals, and releases a Dragon made of mud, asuma quickly reacts by channeling wind Chakra into his had, releasing a huge claw made of Wind. He then uses that claw to forcefully slaps the Mud Dragon towards his left side, destroying it in process.
He then proceeds by weaving 4 hand seals, and releases a disk made purely of Wind chakra from his mouth, aiming it towards Hidan at great speed. As the disk moves towards Hidan, he jumps down from the pillar he was standing on.

As he does this,Hidan also sends chakra into the ground in front of himself and manipulates it to raise up in the form of sharp spikes to pierce Asuma if he were to somehow counter his fire technique.
