Close the Gap
Remember, I do, the day we met,
On a bright day, in the calm of spring,
What we would become, long I had yet,
To know that you would turn into the most precious thing in my life, the queen to my king.
But this ride hasn’t been without its obstacles,
For even now, you and I have been driven apart,
And despite how much I want to think of our separation as impossible,
Even if you’re miles away, you’re still the closest one to my heart.
I’m not sure if the crevasse between us will close,
Or if the pain you feel will go away,
I just want you to know, that I wish time would stay forever frozen,
So that I wouldn’t go without you, by more than a second or a day.
You make my world bright, more so than any before,
You make me feel warm, and appreciated,
I’ve given you the key to my heart, enclosed by a door,
All my pain, all my sorrow, you alleviate.
We shared times of joy, and much laughter,
We were there for each other when we felt like outcasts,
Even now, I believe that we’re meant to be, afterall,
It matters not if I was your first love, but only if I am your last.
