Honestly it really shouldn't surprise anyone that more stories are being set up. You don't just suddenly introduce 10 new universes, each with 10 new characters, only to drop the entire concept after a single arc. The ToP arc is one of the weakest arcs in my opinion, but it is a brilliant way to expand the world building while also opening endless new avenues for potential story arcs in the future.
I'm not sure why they used it, it's strange..
I hope they're not recapping everything Saiyan.. That old Son look with the staff may be a hint at that but I don't think they'll go that route..

Damn I was about to make a thread about this. I guess I’ll just ask here. What do you think the surprise at the end of Super is gonna show? A preview of the movie or a mention/possible preview of a future arc?
I was also pretty disappointed with the image they released. Like at this point we’re a lil past gokus old fighting style. Even then id rather not just see flashbacks of goku and saiyans. Although it seems like a good chunk of the movie might be at least flashbacks(they are talking about the original super saiyan)

I'm not sure what the ending will offer us.. It maybe another arc with all that's been revealed to us throughout Super series..
I hope it's not over & this movie is just a transition into another arc for the universes..

The Dragon Ball Super movie this time around will be the next story that takes place after the anime that's currently on TV.The content will shed a little light on previously unexplored topics having to do with Frieza and the Saiyans, and I think it will be a very enjoyable story that serves up a long-awaited formidable opponent!
With 2013's Battle of Gods, the previous installment Resurrection 'F', and now this time too, I've been the one writing the stories. I've also been drawing quite a few things for them, like design illustrations.I'm actually as busy as ever, and if I wasn't serializing anything, I'd have time to think about the anime with which I used to not have enough time to be involved.(laugh) So on that note, I very much hope you look forward to it!
By the way, I think the highly popular Dragon Ball Super manga, drawn by Toyotaro,is going to see some developments different from the TV anime or movies, so please look forward to that. Be sure to check it out, too!

It won't be a flash back. I think Freeza and the Saiyans past history will lead us to some sort of evil Saiyans or Freeza's ancestors as the main enemy. Toriyama did say it's the next part of the anime after the Tournament so it can't be a flash back.
