Naruto did work hard but he wasn't as much of a hard worker as some people think, besides EMS Sasuke probably worked just as hard if not harder...

I agree with you that Indra and Ashura were equal in terms of power. Hagoromo even says that their bodies were destroyed so possibly they with both eradicated in their battle against each other. This could fit with what Naruto said to Sasuke at the Kage Summit too.

Even in a recent chapter Naruto had a flashback to the Kage Summit Arc as if he could sense Indras presence within Sasuke further cementing the parallels and the outcomes within the battles.

Also I like what you said about Naruto BM looking different to the other hosts BM (like having that cloak thing) because of Ashuras chakra reacting to BM. Its possible since Ashuras fighting powers look so similar to Naruto's BM. Maybe he will activate Ashuras huge cloak thing in upcoming chapters while Sasuke unlocks Indras PS. That would be really neat imo. Good theory.

It took naruto a week to learn rasengan. A rasengan that took minato 3 years. That's a 5000% faster learning time than a so called 'once in a while genius'
It took naruto less than 6 hours to master an A rank shadow clone jutsu that's he's supposedly 'shit at'.

Naruto's a worker. Hard worker? Bah! Barely. Only a few times does he actually really push hard to learn something over a 'long' time. Kurama is as much a cheat code as sharingan.

Kakashi made chidori because it was too complex to make a raiton infused rasengan.

It took him almost all night to learn it.
He learned rasnegan after practicing it all day to the point of exhaustion
Sage mode took him a long time too.
He defeated kurama after years of training, its not like he defeated kurama as a kid no diff. He actually would have lost to kurama if it werent for Kushina.

Its not called plot protection, the things that happen in this story are happening because they are supposed to. Its like saying the reason you are still alive right typing on this forum now is due to plot. Or the reason why the sun hasnt exploded on our earth is due to plot.
