- What is Explosive Clay? Explosive clay is a combination of blast release chakra combined with a special sort of clay, The original version of the technique gave the user, ability to mold their explosive chakra into figurines differing in size, ability and power, In the same way, Deidara used clay as his tool to infuse his explosive chakra which he molded either in his mouth or in the palms of his hands.
- Where did Explosive Clay originate? From Iwagakure, Deidara developed the explosive clay from a forbidden technique originating from Iwagakure, There was once a team formed for all the ninja who possess the blast release KG and it was called the blast corps, Deidara however stole a forbidden technique from Iwa and created the explosive clay techniques.
- How does one gain the ability to use Explosive Clay? You must have the blast release KG, and then you infuse your blast release chakra into a special kind of clay through a special pair of mouths in the palms of your hands.

C1
Deidara's most frequently used form of explosive clay, this form is created from a single mouth within one of his palms, These are small figurines which are created in different sizes and with different abilities, for eg. Some of them are created in the form of birds and have the abilty to fly around and some are created in the form of grasshoppers and have the ability to jump and hop to great lengths though all of them have the main ability which is to explode, With these being the size that they are quite a big amount of them can be used at a time.
C2
This form requires the use of both of Deidara's palm mouths, with this form Deidara was shown to create it in the form of a dragon which Deidara would manipulate while standing safely upon its back, the dragon can spew out smaller clay figures which Deidara manipulates to travel to the location and or explode where he desires, These figurines how ever can be created more larger than those of the C1 form as they are produced from the explosive clay of the dragon.
C3
This form of explosive power is of a large scale, which Deidara would created from his palm mouths and then release into the air, once in the air Deidara would manipulate the figurine by increasing it in size and as it is formed much larger the output of its explosion is far more powerful than the previous forms mentioned, In its first known demonstration, Deidara was shown using it in the attempt to blow up Sunagakure.
C4
This form was created by for the sole purpose of countering the Sharingan and the sharingan genjutsu, With this form Deidara was shown to use his own mouth instead of the ones within his palms, Once released from his mouth the clay takes on the form of Deidara himself and the clay Deidara was shown to increase in size eventually growing into somewhat like a giant balloon which is about to explode, once it explodes it releases a large amount of microscopic bombs that could enter the bloodstream of anyone who inhales them, Once the microscopic bug like creatures are where he desires them to be he would detonate them blowing up his target on a microscopic level.
C0
This is the most powerful form of Deidara's explosive art, he will use this technique to destroy his opponent when all of the above mentioned forms fail, Deidara was shown to reveal a mouth on his chest, which was all stitched up, he would then undo the stitches, and insert a large amount of clay into that mouth Deidara, due to this mouth being directly connected to his heart, he is able to feed all his chakra into the clay, the detonation of this clay covers a ten kilometre blast radius, and destroys anything and anyone within range as well as Deidara himself.

Explosive Clay and the KG Blast Release aren't the same thing. The KG (Blast Release) is earth and lightning. Explosive clay is also weak to fire + water. Gari uses the KG as well, only the Blast Release version of it though.
Everything looks correct. Now, what specific types of creations are able to formed that are shown in the manga/anime with C1 specifically? Make a nice list.

And then you get the special made C1 figurines for a certain purpose;

-Hands you a clump of clay-
So we'll just work on incorporating your chakra into the clay at the moment. Insert the clay into your palm, and just chew on it, kneading your own chakra into it for a few seconds. Then spit it out onto the ground, in no specific shape.
*Takes the ball of raw clay*
I take the clay and hold it just above my right palm mouth with my left hand, The mouth then takes a bite....and then takes another, as the whole ball of clay has been inserted into my right palm mouth it starts to slowly chew on the clay while slowly but surely fusing my blast release chakra into the lump of clay, as it is then done and ready, I hold my hand out with the palm facing to the ground, my right palm mouth then spews the explosive lump of clay out and onto the ground.

Alrighty then. Deidara detonates/explodes his creations through the use of a single hand seal. It acts like a switch, activating the explosive chakra within the clay. So once the hand seal is performed, whatever creation Deidara wishes to explode, does. Now try it out on the lump of clay.
I take the clay and hold it just above my right palm mouth with my left hand, The mouth then takes a bite....and then takes another, as the whole ball of clay has been inserted into my right palm mouth it starts to slowly chew on the clay while slowly but surely fusing my blast release chakra into the lump of clay, as it is then done and ready, I hold my hand out with the palm facing to the ground, my right palm mouth then spews the explosive lump of clay out and onto the ground, as the clay lays there on the ground, I form a single hand seal and activate the blast release chakra within the clay and by doing that I cause the lump of clay to give off a nice explosion.

So we have a few variations of birds. We have a small bird, that was used against Gaara. Even small, they have a large explosion.

We have a hawk, which is more agile and faster than his regular birds. Better for fighting, basically.

Theres the larger bird with the massive mouth, that carried Gaara's body away after he defeated and kidnapped him from Sunagakure. You can hide a clone inside of it or the like.

I start by inserting my right hand into my clay pouch which is attached to my right side of my body and the mouth in my right palm takes a small bite out of the clay and starts chewing on it while also fusing my blast release chakra into the clay, I then focus on the image of a small bird which could be silently released and unnoticed, my right palm mouth then spews the bird out and I release it into the sky, as it has reached a far enough distance from us, I form a single hand seal and then detonate it.
Advantages - This bird could be released silently and unnoticed due to its size.
Disadvantages - The range of this bird may also not be that great compared to the larger birds.

Advantages - This hawk has great agility and speed.
Disadvantages - It is a large bird which means it cannot be released secretively and it will be clearly noticed as soon as it is expanded.

Advantages - One could use this bird to hide themselves in, while a clone is fighting outside.
Disadvantages - This bird can't be used for fighting really as it is more of a traveling and storage bird.

Advantages - This is a large bird meaning it gives off a larger explosion than many of the other birds, It is best used against multiple targets.
Disadvantages - I can't think of a disadvantage for this bird. U_U
