However he just wants to make sure that the war is over. Remember the last time he was stopped from killing someone, Obito, Obito then continued to revive madara, sasuke and naruto almost died because of it, and they almost lost the war. Simply by not killing Obito. He just wanted to make sure that such a thing couldn't possible happen again. He just doesn't want anyone else to get hurt, so he wanted to stop madara once and for all by making sure he was dead.

I'm not implying Sasuke is being stupid or bloodthirsty.

If there's one thing I like about Sasuke. It's his lack of hesitation to kill his opponent.

Sasuke's the type to kill a villain in the middle of his monologue. He's known for it. He's made attempts at madara's, obito's, and Kaguya's life every chance he got.

It's pretty funny to be honest.

Remember he wanted to do the same to Obito? He was down and Sasuke was running to take him out, yet Naruto had a problem with this as did Minato. Because Obito wasn't taken out then and there, things got a lot worse.
