Chuunin Exams: Different outcome?

How do you feel the Chuunin Exams would have turned out if they weren't sabotaged by Orochimaru? Assuming the final tournament went as planned, the following contenders would have been facing off:

Naruto/Neji - We know the outcome of this one. Naruto wins.
Shikamaru/Temari - Assuming things stayed the same, Temari was declared the victor.
Sasuke/Gaara - Sasuke was wrecking Gaara up until Shukaku was released.
Shino/Kankuro - Shino bested Kankuro in the forest, but was heavily wounded.

So who do you think would have won in the end?



My thoughts:

Naruto vs. Temari - Naruto would win, but Temari would really rough him up. If Naruto could beat a genius like Neji through sheer willpower, I think he could handle Temari.

Sasuke vs. Gaara - Sasuke would force Gaara into a corner. Gaara would have to forfeit in order to keep Shukaku from controlling him. Otherwise, I think the match would have been stopped and Gaara would be disqualified.

Shino vs. Kankuro - Shino wins, but only by a chakra thread. (Get the pun?)

Sasuke vs. Shino - An interesting fight, but I believe Sasuke would manage to pull though this one.

Naruto vs. Sasuke - At this point in the series, Naruto lacked Rasengan. However, Sasuke was a bit reckless and didn't know how to control his Chidori. I think Sasuke would have too much confidence going into the fight, misuse his Chidori, and give Naruto the upper hand. Naruto, however, would run into the same issue as Gaara. If pushed into a corner, he'd be at risk of unleashing Kurama. It's hard to say at which point the proctor would have ended the match.

He was able to take on Gaara + Shukaku and win. I don't think it's as obvious as you're implying. Sasuke had Chidori, yeah, but no blessing from Orochimaru. He also completely underestimated Naruto just like Neji did. I'm not a Naruto or Sasuke fanboy, but I think it would have been closer to Naruto's favor simply because he had a tailed beast bonus. Sasuke didn't have Orochimaru's blessing to compensate for that.

I think that it would have turned out roughly the same.

Sasuke had driven Gaara into a corner, but Gaara was holding back the entire time. I don't think that activating Shukaku would be an automatic disqualification. As long as Shikaku wasn't in full control (without activating the Playing Possum Technique), Gaara could likely continue to compete. They let Naruto compete after activating Kurama's chakra against Neji. This didn't turn out very well for Sasuke in the forest, and I don't think being in the arena would change anything.

The Shino and Kankuro battle would probably turn out the same as the one in forest. Shino would need to recover from the poison, though. His dad should be able help him with that.

This would leave the semifinals of Temari, Naruto, Gaara, and Shino.

The implications should naruto unleashed the beast is, naruto's gonna die. Sasuke's in the other hands as we all know already had mastered the level 1 chidori plus having a sharingan, in either way naruto's gonna lose somehow.

Agree with most of your guesses except sasuke would have had to use a lot of chakra against gaara since from full chakra levels he could only use like three chidoris(i think thats how many it was) he would of had to use a couple against gaara plus the chakra for his sharingan, he wouldn't have that much left to go against naruto while naruto had the kyuubi he could draw on and summons so i reckon naruto would have won or sasuke's curse seal would have activated and the fight been halted

maybe an hour or so but remember dignataries and officials were there betting so they would make them wait. the gap between the preliminaries and the fights was so everyone could gather and the participant could rest after the forest

Naruto vs. Temari would be interesting to see but Naruto should take this one. He's not book smart but he's definitely tricky. The real problem is going to be getting close to Temari, which is a rough challenge considering she's actually known to be very intelligent. Ehh judging by their previous fights Naruto will probably just disguise himself or a clone as a shuriken and try to feint Temari that way.

Unless Gaara simply lets his bijuu take control of him (which would probably stop the match right there), Sasuke had the win.

Man Shino vs. Kankuro could go either way. Their fight was supposed to be before Shikamaru and Temari's right? That hole in the ground really looks like a plus for Shino here since he can sneak his bugs around without notice. This would change the events of Temari vs. Shikamaru a bit but it would benefit Temari anyways so I guess it doesn't matter. The real question is if he can last that long against an offensive puppet in that stadium. The setting suggests that the opponents brawl, not play a game of hide and seek. He'd have to do it fast.

If I'm right Shino's actually supposed to be smarter than Sasuke. But I don't think that matters here, the Sharingan, a huge gap in speed, Katons, and Chidori... all powerful cards that can be used here. Shino's only chance is to latch onto Sasuke with a bug clone feint when he uses Chidori but it's hard for me to picture it.

Naruto has 2 chances of winning: using the Kyuubi's chakra or getting a sudden surge of energy because he's fighting his rival. Sasuke's pretty dang fast compared to some other genin during this time but it also drains him. If Naruto can drain him out of that stamina, that speed becomes a burden. Now we can't be sure Naruto's THAT insightful, so I wouldn't assume that it would be goal off the get go. He may notice Sasuke tiring though, and that will probably be an indication to spam clones. Now the problem is that Sasuke has Chidori, a major card on the field here. His surge of energy against Gaara was due to the fact that his friends were crumbling before his eyes, so I wouldn't expect that to pop in again but who knows.
