Hey everyone! Sorry this took a while to get out I had a birthday recently so I've been busy with that, plus I have school. Well this is fairly short so hope ya can enjoy.
It's was cool and dark, a nice breeze blew threw the air. Children ran around as music played and adults talked amongst themselves. Tiquan approached his mother
" Hey I've been thinking, and a thought of something. I wanna know how you feel about it."
His mother rased and eyebrow, "Ok what is it," She asked.
"Well I think it's time."
She gave him an awkward look, "Time? Time for what?"
He took a deep great as prepared his answer. "I think it's time for T'Ziah to find out the truth. The truth in the reason we've had the ceremony for the past five years."
Mom gave him a sharp look and then replied, "No, I don't think that's a good idea. He's too young."
He chucked slightly at her remark. I was five, i saw the bodies. he's 10 now i think he can handle it. Besides I'm convinced that if didn't run into the house that time I still wouldn't know a thing."
She sighed. "Perhaps. Fine, Tiquan it's your call. However if you choose to do so, I request one thing from you."
"Ok what is it?"
"Please tell him after the ceremonies over so he can enjoy himself."
"That I can and will do."
"Thank you. I'll let fellow those around know that he'll know soon enough." She then began to walked away.
Tiquan nodded signaling that he understood and then walked the other direction to partake in the ceremony.
The ceremony starts off with an announcement from the leader of the Conley family, Darnell Brown SR.
"We are gathered hear today to remember those who have fought hard to protect this family and have unfortunately fallen. Some in war, some on missions. We are again honored to be joined by the Conley's. I now will like to pass it over to their leader Vera!
The crowd claps loudly as an older woman walkes towards the podium, she sniffles a bit and adjusters the microphone.
"On this day, five years ago, my father James Comley was found murder. We don't know who did it, we don't know why. However we do know he went," Vera chokes up a bit as she starts sobbing, others in the crowd of people begin sobbing as well. " We know, we know he put up a fight and we know he protecting the people he loved. You and me! Thank you and have a blessed day." The crowd cheers once again and the ceremony commences with no problems. The night grows old and everyone begins to head home. Tiquan finds his brother and approaches him.
"Hey, T'Ziah come over here with me." He says as he walks over to a tree.
"What?"
"Do you know why we really have this ceremony every year?"
T'Ziah slanted his eyes at him."Yeah dude I'm not stupid. We do it to celebrate the lives of the family members who died, in combat."
"Ok good. However what if I told you that wasn't true. What if I told you there was a hidden reason behind it all that younger members, even some older don't know."
"What are you talking about?"
"Look, have you ever wonder what happened to Alton."
"No because he's a secret mission."
Tiquan laughed out loud unintentionally, " Secret mission!?" That's what they tell you guys? He's the reason we have this damn thing! Remember when we were on a vacation five years ago? That's when it happened he killed everyone that stayed! How do I know this? I ran into the house that night and saw all of the bodies, and we have it on camera that he did it!"
T'Ziah stood silently.
Tiquan looked at his brother with concern in his eyes. "Are you ok?"
"Yeah, it's just hard to believe are you telling me the truth?"
Tiquan nodded , "Yeah."
Tziah clinched his fist and spoke angrily. " Well then how come no one tries to get Alton back why is there no one seeking revenge?"
Tiquan spoke softly trying not to anger him anymore. " Well there have been. No one has been able to do it just yet. They either never come back or come back severely injured and eventually die here."
"If that's the case I'll train hard all summer to eventually be strong enough to take on Alton. I will find him and I will kill him. He's no brother of mine!" He spat.
"If that's the path you want to take go ahead. My path is to find him and bring him home for proper judgement, taking his life won't bring anyone back bro."
Before he could get a response T'Ziah stormed off in anger.
