ZombieFic Presents: A Choose your Adventure story
featuring zombies

Update: Going back down to three votes for progression!

Rules: As with my other Choose your Adventure stories, things will be decided on a vote basis. Unless stated otherwise, it will require three votes to progress. That means, if there are three options and somebody votes option A twice, option B once, and option C three thrice, then option C wins. A vote after an option has already received three votes cannot be counted (out of laziness). That means hurry up and post so your vote will count.
  • In the event of a tie, and it is taking too long to break it, I will find somebody to break it, or give somebody who previously voted another vote.
  • I will not give hints as to the best possible outcome, as everything is completely improvised (written as I go).
  • You cannot change your vote after I already counted your vote.
  • To vote, simply make a post in the thread after each section is posted with your choice.
  • Please do not use alts to vote, but by all means invite your friends. If they're like minded, your chance to lock in your choice grows that much.
  • Feel free to throw out suggestions whenever you please. If I like them, you might find said suggestion incorporated into the story!
  • Hint: Subscribing to threads in your control panel make it a lot easier to track this story, and get your votes in on time!
  • You can join in at any time!
  • And finally, do have fun and enjoy yourself! Now, I will be commencing the story!
Choose your Adventure Z
It's late at night and you're awoken by an amplitude of sirens going down the street. The pitter patter of rain on the window is hypnotizing as you lay there. A bloodcurdling scream startles you momentarily, then you remembered the sirens from moments ago. The subtle glow of the alarm clock seems blurry, but your eyes slowly adjust and the hazy red light slowly forms figures. Three am, just why can't you sleep tonight?

You roll over hesitantly. You have a nagging feeling that something is wrong causing your stomach to turn. You just can't help but reassure yourself that there is nothing wrong. However, reassuring yourself in such a manner becomes next to impossible when you hear a gun shot several floors above you. More screams. Your body instinctively goes twat and your feet slide over the edge of the bed. You find yourself in a seated position, and staring at a blank wall.

Silence, followed by more tapping on your window as the rain pelts against it. A shriek, possibly of a young girl or boy. There is definitely something wrong, you know for a fact that something has to be wrong. No time to waste, got to get dressed. Climbing to your feet, you rush over to your dresser and pull the drawer out. In the dark it's difficult to tell what color something is, but you grab the most comfortable looking clothing you have. No sense in running out into the night in a bra and panties, right?

You adorn a pair of tight khaki pants with cargo pockets so you can stuff anything of necessity in them. You're not sure why you're in a survival mode, but you feel it's best to let your instincts prepare you. You pull on a tight fitting tank top, as it will make running easier if your breasts aren't bouncing everywhere. Over the tank top you pull a tight fitting turtle neck sweater, possibly blue or a dark purple, the color was hard to discern in the dark room. Best to stay warm in this rainy weather.

As you continue dressing, you hear a thud down the hallway. You're startled, and realize you don't have shoes. You rush to your closet and slide the door open. It's incredibly dark in it, but you get on your knees and start sifting through your collection of shoes. You find a pair of boots, you're not sure what kind, but they will have to do. You quickly pull them on and tighten up the laces. As you make progress, the sound of something scraping against the wall can be heard on the other side.

You find yourself fighting down the urge to scream. Instead, you decide to find something in your room to arm yourself. There isn't much, but a wooden chair, a lamp, and some less than useful sports equipment in your closet. The chair would be too big, and you can't see yourself using a lamp to fight off an assailant, but an idea comes to mind. You manipulate the chair onto it's side and begin pulling at a leg as quietly as possible, pushing with your own legs. The chair leg begins to loosen and eventually breaks off with a loud crack.

You pause for a moment, you didn't want to make any noise. You listen, foot steps in the hallway, something scraping against the wall moving towards your doorway. You can't even breath, whatever is out there, you don't want coming into your room. It seems like at any moment you're going to pass out from holding your breath when you realize you had been breathing the entire time. Your breaths were full of fear and your chest heaved with each one. Your eyes traced the figure of an imaginary horror show freak walking down the hallway. Your eyes adjusted with each step.

Your eyes dart to the bottom of your door, a small beam of light, and suddenly a shadow. Whatever was out there was now in front of your door. You feel a thud, thud, thud, thud inside your chest as your heart beats. Your body goes numb in fear, and you don't know what to do. Your subconscious is ready to take over and prepares to throw you into fight or flight mode. You hardly notice you're still sitting on the floor with a broken chair leg in your hands until a cold tear loosens from your cheek and falls onto your hand. This brings you back to reality and you climb to your feet.

Now Choose:
0 Votes A) Go to the door, try to see what is through the peep hole. Stand there silently and wait for whoever is out there to go away.
3 Votes B) You have no choice, yank the door open and face whatever is on the other side. You are armed, you had martial arts training, you can handle whatever is there.
0 Votes C) At this point, it will be best to run. You can climb out your window and use the fire escape to either go up or down to a different level.

You realize there is no time to think. Whatever is on the other side of that door is a threat. You pull on the chain loosening it's grips. Next you undo the dead bolt. Your hand quivers as you move it to the knob. A tiny turn lock on it, it doesn't want to turn. Or you don't want to turn it. Finally the door is completely unlocked, and you can again feel your heart pounding. The courage you had moments ago was rather fleeting now. Still, no turning back, you mutter silently to yourself.

Your hand clasps around the knob. You can feel the cold brass trying to sap at your body heat. Your entire hand turns slowly, the knob along with it. You can almost hear the mechanisms inside the door working, and you wished whatever was on the other side wouldn't be any threat. Before you can even begin to pull the door open, it abruptly bursts inwards with the force of a much larger man. You are thrown back and land with a loud thud on your butt. You barely have time to react and pull up your makeshift club as the sickly looking man lunges at you.

There was definitely something wrong with him too. His skin was incredibly pale and blotchy, almost lifeless. His mouth snarled and saliva pooled down his lip and was dripping on you. The strangest part was his constant biting motion. He seemed to want to sink his teeth into your flesh and tear you asunder. His strength seemed almost inhuman. The worst part though, was his odor. He reeked of death. A smell so foul it made your stomach turn to the point where you were fighting down vomit.

However, you were in a predicament and you'd have to save yourself. You shift your weight off to one side and use his own force to roll him off of you. You quickly jump back to your feet as the man seems to stagger about trying to climb up. You hoist your makeshift club above your head and hesitantly strike. You seem to be crying as you do, but that doesn't stop you from striking him again. He doesn't seem phased by such hard hits. This time you put all your force into the next blow and strike him in the head.

It sounds like a loud snap. His body seems to cease any motion as he drops to the ground. With the door open, the light from the hallway illuminates this man, and you can see the wound. A large gash and what looks like a crushed in skull. The man should be bleeding severely, but there was hardly any blood at all. You stand there holding your makeshift club just staring over his body and pondering what to do next when the sound of more foot steps in the hallway grabs all of your attention.

You turn around and stare at the door. Somebody is groaning, perhaps injured by this man you just killed. You don't know what to do but stand there.

Now Choose:
0 Votes A) Go into the hallway, see what is going on. There are sure to be other people just as confused as you.
0 Votes B) Shut your door and lock it back up. You don't know what's going on, but you should probably call the police
3 Votes C) There's still the window. What if the people in the hallway were sick like this man?

You decide your safest bet is the window. You scramble to the window and attempt to push it up. The locks! You quickly flip the small knobs that kept the window secured in place. You then place your palms on the cold glass and begin to push up, it budges only a little bit. You barely ever opened your window because in the city things got loud. You try to force your fingers into the small gap that opened up underneath and heave upwards with your entire body.

It doesn't budge. You become panicked by the sounds of feet in the hallway approaching your door, and proceed to strike the glass with your chair leg club. It shatters, and quite loudly. Louder than you would have liked, but you don't have time to worry about that. You put one leg through, and almost slip. The metal fire escape was wet with water and that made it slippery. You carefully climb the rest of the way out, and despite being so careful a hanging shard of glass manages to tear through your shirt and cut your arm.

As you find yourself on the metal fire escape, you realize just how bad the bleeding is as it sends sharp shooting pains through your arm. Up would be more apartments, possibly with people that are still normal in them who may be able to help you. Down is the ground, and a dark alleyway that you had never even thought of going through. However, you knew that if you got to the street, you could make your way to the pharmacy down the street, they were sure to have medical supplies there.

Now Choose:
0 Votes A) Go up, there has to be somebody who can help you in another apartment. Who wants to be alone?
3 Votes B) Down, best not to get trapped further up where escape might become impossible.

Any reasonable person would go down. No sense in going up, you'd only get trapped up there right? Besides, that's what the fire escapes were designed for, going down. You put your heavy boot on the metal ladder and press down. It resists but inevitably falls down with a loud clang. Apparently it's not your day for being quiet.

As quickly as safety permits, you climb down the metal ladder. Your boots finally connect with the cold wet cement of the alleyway. Without hesitation you turn and start running in the direction of the main road. What you find there, is chaos. There are fires blazing, burning cars, people running around frantically. It was like sheer pandemonium and civil unrest.

To make matters worst, there was a small child in the middle of it all. You soon realize he is standing alone and crying, and sickly looking people were slowly walking towards him.

Now Choose:
2 Votes A) Help the child! It's a little kid for Christ's sake!
3 Votes B) Yeah, that kid is looking a lot like an anchor right now. Better go get medical supplies.

You know you want to help the child, but then you realized you'd probably end up just sharing his fate. Your instinct for survival instead forces you to turn your back on him and run. As you take off down the street, you can feel moist droplets streaming down your cheeks. You're not sure if those are tears or rain drops, but you really don't have time to think about it.

Ahead you can see the pharmacy, and it seems rather quiet around it as well. You run straight up to the doors and clasp the handle to pull. The door doesn't budge, it seems to be locked. Peering inside you can see movement but you can't tell if it's normal people or more sick people. The lights inside were turned off, except for some lights in the backroom. People are obviously inside, and inside might be your best bet.

You decide to pound on the door. The movement inside stops, but you can't really make out what is happening. The person inside seems to shuffle a bit but makes no attempt to come to the door. You have to get inside before you bleed out.
Now Choose:
3 Votes A) Try to force your way in through the door. Time is of the essence here!
1 Votes B) Try to find another way in, there has to be a back door or something.

You decide to break in, what choice do you have really? A small metal trash can by the door becomes your battering ram. You being to hit the bottom glass pain with it. The glass shatters, but doesn't break away and is held in place by a film covering. You continue to strike it with the trash can and you're eventually able to push through the glass to get inside.

The man who was shuffling around inside levels a double barreled shotgun at you. The two side by side barrels are incredibly intimidating and you cease moving. Your eyes adjust from the shotgun to his, and he seems to be just as scared as you. You decide you have to find a way to negotiate for his help.

"Sir, please, I'm in desperate need of medical assistance!" You plead with him, hoping that will get him to lower the shotgun.

He flashes a light at you. The bright light hurts your eyes as they haven't adjusted yet. Just as quick as he was to point the light at you, he shuts it off.

"I see you are bleeding quite heavily. Quickly, this way." He motions you towards a set of shelves.

You follow him over to the shelves. By the time you get caught up with him, he is already pulling out some bandages. You begin rolling your sleeve up and realize just how bad the cut actually was. You suddenly wince as he pours rubbing alcohol over the wound without warning. As you're about to shout in agony, he clasps a hand over your mouth. With his other hand he motions for you to stay quiet.

With experienced hands, he applies the bandage over your wound. It's incredibly tight but it seems to make the wound hurt less aside from stopping the bleeding.

"Now that you broke in here, those people can get in too."

Now Choose:
3 Votes A) Suggest that it was only a matter of time before they got in anyway, and that you should evacuate the city with him.
1 Votes B) Suggest that the two of you barricade the door with whatever they can. It could only be a matter of time before help arrives anyway.
0 Votes C) Thank him for his help, and tell him he should get out of the city too. But from here you would like to travel by yourself.

"Forget about staying in here and being trapped. We need to get out of here is what we need to do. What if help never comes?"

You stand up and motion for him to get up too. He seems more hesitant than you though. As your eyes adjust to the dark pharmacy, you begin to make out his details. He was an older man of Asian decent wearing rather thick glasses with thick brown frames. His grey hair was thin on the sides and nonexistent on top of his head. His red vest with the pharmacy's logo contrasted against his blue button up collared shirt.

He shook his head, "No, I can't go with you. I have a family living upstairs. We're better off waiting for help to show up."

You think of your next words carefully, "You can't just stay here, get your family and let's go."

"She's right dad!" A young male voice came from the lit back room.

A young man also of Asian heritage came out, his black hair was full, yet his facial structure was incredibly similar to the older mans.

"If we leave this place, where should we go? We're in the middle of the city, and the city is then surrounded by suburbs. If we go east, we'll pass through some shady neighborhoods, but then we could end up hitting the country side. If we go west, we'll be passing through miles of dense suburbs before we hit the forests. North will only take us to the river and that would be insane trying to cross it, so our only other option is south which will send us to the swamps." The old man questioned your sense of direction.

Now Choose:
3 Votes A) West
1 Votes B) East
0 Votes C) South

"West!" is the decision you come to after moments of dwelling on the subject with your own mind.

"Hm, so we'll go west. You should gather supplies first." The older man mumbles as he climbs to his feet. "I'll go and get my family together."

He almost seemed rejuvenated by the prospect of adventure, or maybe it was the idea of protecting his family. Either way, you quickly start scanning the shelves and find one with several backpacks. You choose the Pikachu backpack and begin stuffing food and water into it. The mans son grabs the Bulbasaur backpack and begins stuffing supplies in it as well.

While browsing the shelves you manage to find a replacement to your chair leg. The formidable household hammer, complete with a rubber coated grip to prevent slipping. You place the hammer into a conveniently placed loop on your pant leg, and begin stuffing in more supplies. After a few moments of gathering supplies, the older man comes back down the stairs.

"You and my son will have to go it alone. My wife is too ill to go with us, and I will not leave her here by herself." He speaks in a low and solemn tone.

"Father, you have to come with us. We can carry mother if we have to!" The young man exclaims, not wanting to leave his father and mother.

"You'll do as you are told. Now go."

His son doesn't answer, he only walks to the door in front of you. You have no qualms about leaving behind a sick woman (after all, you abandon innocent children to their doom), but having somebody with medical experience would have been nice. The son crouches down and squeezes through the broken door in front of you. Without hesitation you follow behind.

As you emerge outside once again, you can see several sick people on the street. The sound of something large and heavy can be heard being moved in front of the door behind you. You don't look back, neither does the mans son. He doesn't even talk as he starts walking down the street. You follow in the same silence, but cannot help but notice the sick people are following. Though they have difficulty keeping up, you keep glancing back and notice their numbers growing.

"We should move faster." You tell the man in front of you.

He shakes his head, knowing what you're referring to, "Maybe we should try to shake them by going through a building?

Now Choose:
3 Votes A) Start running, put some distance between you and the man eating freaks!
0 Votes B) Try to lose them by pushing through a building. Seems like a decent strategy.

You don't wait to come to a decision, you slowly start walking fast, then jogging then running. The man shakes his head and follows your lead. He probably knew this neighborhood fairly well, but it didn't matter, you just wanted to get away. You continue running for quite some time, occassionally risking a glance back to see the growing group of freaks shrink and finally vanish. You don't know how far you ran, but you knew you had been running for about ten minutes before you slowed your pace.

As you slowed, you began to catch your breath and noticed the man slowed down with you. He wasn't even breathing heavily, so you decide to start talking again.

"This has been a rather silent trip so far. What was your name?"

"Wan."

"One, huh. Like the number?"

"No, Wan, like wander minus the derrrr."

"Oh, my bad, you can call me ..." He cut you over by waving at you with his hand.

A large swarm of the sick people stood in your path, moaning and groaning. None of them looked even remotely alive but yet they moved. Many of them had strange bite wounds that weren't even bleeding. They didn't seem very aware of their surroundings but as they notice you they started coming towards you and Wan. Wan backs up and begins looking around at your surroundings. You notice off to the right is a strip mall with a rather large parking lot with many vehicles in it. To your left you see what looks like a fuel station that is rather abandoned.

Now Choose:
3 Votes A) The strip mall! Let's go shopping. ;o
0 Votes B) Well, the gas station seems emptier. Either way we can't go straight.

Without a word you take off to the right. Wan really has no choice but to follow you. The zombies would have followed you regardless. It only takes you a minute of full sprinting to reach the parking lot of the strip mall. It's obviously going to take those flesh consuming miscreants a few moments to reach you, which gives you plenty of time to search vehicles for your transportation of choice.

Wan instinctively starts looking at a riced out Subaru, all the while you go for the red neck looking Dodge pickup raised by about thirty centimeters with mudding tires. The Subaru was blue with gold rims and an incredibly ricey spoiler while the Dodge was a patchwork of miscolored parts complete with a confederate flag painted on the rear window.

Wan looked at the truck you were sizing up, "There is no way I am getting in that."

"Oh, and you expect me to take the chances of that tiny car. Hit one of those undead freaks and that thing will fall apart."

"We wont have to worry about hitting any undead freaks in the roo because I can drive."

"Oh, you think you're going to be driving? Nuh-uh."

Now Choose:
2 Votes A) Take the Subaru, it's probably faster! You'll be out of town in no time!
3 Votes B) Obviously you can all terrain in the truck. Zombies count as terrain right?

You give Wan a stare that would send chills down the spine of an inanimate statue, and he succumbs to your wishes to take the truck. He immediately begins pulling out a small kit and sets to work on the door attempting to pick it's lock. You assume it's going to take a minute so you begin to get a hold on your surroundings. You walk around the truck looking off in every direction and quickly realize you're lacking in the time department.

"Hey, Wan. How much longer til you get that lock undone?"

Wan continues fervently trying to pick the lock and ignores you. You can't help but notice just how surrounded the two of you are at this point. Possibly hundreds of the biters were closing in on you. You wanted to do a bit of shopping, but that wasn't going to be possible now. The closest one to you was now just several meters. It would take them a while yet though, with them stumbling over one another.

"Waaaaaan, come on, they're getting closer."

You begin backing up closer to the truck as Wan continues to work on the lock. You can feel yourself trembling as their odor wafts through the air. The closer they come to you, the more details you can see. Gaping bite marks, snarling teeth, drool dripping from gaping mouths ready to tear you asunder. You begin pounding on the truck hoping that will make it open sooner. You pull on the handle but to no avail.

Time seems to stretch infinitely as they get closer and closer. Any time now and they will be over you tearing apart your flesh. Would you become like them? Would you find yourself mindlessly walking through town amongst them, waiting for another "normie" to walk into your path giving you the opportunity to consume from their flesh as well?

Click! You here a mechanical lock engage, you turn around rapidly and proceed to pull on the handle. The door swings open in the nick of time. You begin to climb in but something has a hold on your leg. You kick and swing your leg trying to break free. You don't want to turn, but as you do you see a set of teeth tracking your flailing leg and endlessly trying to bit into it. You give it one good snap seeing how it held your leg. You manage to break your leg free and at the same time strike the thing in the face with the heel of your boot.

You finally manage to climb into the truck and even get the door shut. The former humans below pound on the metal door as if that would make it budge. They seemed to lack the mental facility to open a door, and that gives you a moments relief as you look down from the passenger seat at a sea of malicious cannibals. Wan is already fumbling with a group of wires below the steering column.

Suddenly the truck roars to life, and this becomes the single greatest moment in your life. Without order or hesitation Wan shifts from neutral into reverse and releases the emergency break. Slowly letting off the clutch he gives it some gas and the sound of bodies being crushed can be heard. The truck wedges one walking corpse between it's rear bumper and another vehicle behind itself. Wan presses in on the clutch while throwing the truck into first gear.

He presses on the gas and dumps the clutch, the wheels spin wildly for a moment before grabbing tracking. The vehicle screams forward quite quickly and recklessly. You find yourselves swerving through the parking lot until the truck gathers enough tracking to maintain it's bearing. Wan pulls hard on the steering wheel and the wheels screech as you make a left turn. It's as if the concept of breaking didn't exist with this one as he again gives the wheel everything he has producing a right turn.

Moments ago, you were in the grip of death, now you were cruising down the main boulevard heading west towards the suburbs leaving death in your rear view mirror. You decide to break the silence by flipping on the radio. Some ridiculous sounding country music begins to play. Wan seems to like it, but you don't hesitate to switch to the radio and see if you can pick up some news. Nothing but static, on every station. Was this problem global? It seemed rather depressing, but you switch off the radio in the mean time.

Suddenly the truck begins slowing, and this jolts you into reality. You begin to look around and realize what was going on before Wan could even make mention of your situation. The overpass was congested with stopped vehicles. You wouldn't be able to reach the suburbs that way. Your only options would be to take the back roads through town, or do a bit of off roading and drive straight through the neighborhood in front of you.

Now Choose:
2 Votes A) Take the back roads. Less chance you can damage your vehicle!
1 Votes B) You don't have time to wait, let's just plow through houses, fences, and playgrounds. Off roading is fun!
0 Votes C) You're incredibly hardcore. Walk over the overpass on foot. You're the baws.

"Just take the back roads." You point to an alleyway to the right.

Wan obliged and the truck slowly turns into the alleyway barely squeezing through. He proceeds to drive slowly, being cautious and checking the surroundings. You watch the buildings as you progress at a crawl. Another turn and you're back onto a main road. The road is littered with vehicles. Some of those vehicles have people trapped inside. At least they used to be people, judging by the amount of blood you don't want to risk checking to see if they're okay or not.

They were roaming the streets too, constantly jumping in front of the truck and being run down. Police, teachers, children, doctors, nurses, firemen, they were all turned. Were we the only normal ones left? A flash by a window in a restaurant. It moved to swiftly to be one of them. You motion to Wan to stop the vehicle. He obliges you and the vehicle abruptly stops. You have to throw your hands up to not smash your face into the dashboard.

"Why are we stopping? Wan asks."

"There were people in that restaurant."

"So, we should keep moving. If they wanted to come with us they would have darted out after us."

"But we also need food. I haven't eaten anything in a while."

Now Choose:
3 Votes A) Check out the restaurant. Who could be inside?
0 Votes B) They can fend for themselves, they might want what we have.

Without waiting for Wan, you exit the truck. There were only a few biters straggling about the streets and would be easy enough to ignore. You pull your trusty hammer out as you make your way to the doors of the restaurant whilst striking a lone biter in the temple before it had an opportunity to even lunge. It dropped like a sack of potatoes making a somewhat loud thud as it hit the ground. Standing in front of the doors you contemplate breaking in, but figured these people might not be so forgiving if they have a shotgun. Instead you knock loudly.

"Anybody in there?"

"Go away, you can't come in, this is our hideout." A younger sounding girl replies.

The sound of scuffling and shoving can be heard. "What do you want?"

"You can't stay in there, it wont be safe much longer. Trust me and come with us."

You can hear the people inside discussing something for a moment. It's dark inside and the glass on the doors is glazed white making it hard to see, but you can make out a silhouette of somebody inside. You begin to look around and make sure things outside are still safe when you notice the biters begin grouping and moving towards you.

"Quickly now, we haven't much time!"

"Are you armed?" This time it sounded like a younger boy.

You nod, but realizing he can't see you nodding you reply, "I've got a hammer and a truck. Are you coming?"

You can hear the door click open. Two school children, probably in their late teens emerge. One a girl in a green and maroon plaid skirt, with a white button up blouse with a maroon vest complete with the schools insignia on it and a boy with green slacks and a white button up shirt. They look absolutely petrified to be outside.

"Hurry and get in the truck, I'm going inside to get some food."

"Don't bother," the boy responded, "there isn't anything left. Rioters took what they could."

You follow the two kids back to the truck and let they climb into the back seat while you climb back into the passenger seat. Wan doesn't hesitate to start driving again and you're on your way again.

"What are your names?" You ask the kids.

The older boy with the eye bandage replied first, "I'm Howard."

The girl nudged him in the ribs, "I told you not to use our real names anymore. Call me Sublime!"

That forces a bit of a smile on your face but it doesn't last. Ahead in the middle of the intersection is a massive pile up of smoldering vehicles and other debris such as park benches and tables. Apparently a massive blockade created, probably by looters or the police to possibly quarantine the effects of the sickness. You realize the truck wont make it over, and that limits your possible choices.

Now Choose:
3 Votes A) Proceed on foot, you can always climb over the large blockade.
2 Votes B) Back the truck up and find a different way.

"Looks like we proceed on foot. I'm sure we'll find another vehicle later. The Suburbs should be on the other side of that blockade!" You speak aloud to the group.

"Looks like I agree with you finally on something." Wan acknowledged your decision.

"You mean we have to go back out there with those freaks again?" Howard seemed ready to cry.

Sublime elbowed him in the ribs again, "Quit being such a wimp!"

Sublime nonchalantly climbed out of the vehicle without any discretion. Consequently she was grabbed by a biter that was being dragged under the truck. Her scream was enough to stir up every walker in a ten mile radius. You waste no time in getting out either to try to help Sublime. As you get out you see her pushing off the truck with her other leg and trying to shake her ensnared leg free.

You equip your hammer of bashing (does +3 damage against zombies) and proceed to start attacking the arm latched onto Sublime's leg. After about twenty or thirty hefty swings the arm becomes severed and Sublime is able to get away from the clinging biter. Her leg is coated with biter juice, and still had the arm attached which caused her to start heaving violently.

By the time Wang and Howard were out of the truck and by your side the situation was handled. You nonchalantly pry the fingers one by one off of Sublime's leg and free the twitching arm. Unsure what to do with it, you arch back and proceed to throw it down the road.

As you were throwing the arm, Wan and Howard helped Sublime to her feet. Her toughness was fleeting and she was sobbing and heaving with tears streaming down her face. You didn't have time to console her with her near death experience though as the biters were shambling slowly towards your group. You'd have to get away and over that pile of debris as quickly as possible.

As if things weren't bad enough, you heard something incredibly out of place. It sounded like massive pounding foot steps, and in the distance you saw the silhouette of a tank sized man.

"This can't be good." You stare in fear, your body not wanting to move.

You didn't have to break your paralysis, Wan grabbed your hand and started dragging you. Somehow your feet began to function properly and you found yourself scrambling up the hill of wrecked vehicles and other junk. The pounding feet of the giant grew closer and that forced you and your group to climb faster. The top seemed to grow further the closer you got to it. The acrid smell of burning flesh in the heap made the climb all the harder, the pounding steps of looming disaster growing closer was agitating.

As you reach the top you stand there locked in a panic that seemed unstoppable. Your decision to go west was very wrong. The blockade wasn't set up to keep the biters in, it was set up to keep the biters out. It was a four way intersection and in every direction was hundreds of them. Sick, twisted and hungered for flesh. There was nowhere you could go.

Now Choose:
3 Votes A) Attempt to go back the way you came! There is only one you have to worry about, and it looks incredibly slow.
2 Votes B) Go forward, sure there are a lot of them, but you might come up with a plan to get through.

You're about to turn back and go the way you came when the hulking beast punches the bottom of the scrap heap causing the entire think to shake violently. You fall backwards and begin rolling towards the large group of Zombies directly ahead of you. Wan manages to grab your hand before you stray too far from the group.

"We can't fight that thing, we have to take out chances with those smaller biters!"

Wan only nods as he helps you to your feet. You and Wan lead the charge towards the crowd of zombies, each one seething and snapping at the air as they detect your presence. As you get closer to the bottom of the heap they begin climbing over one another and onto the blockade itself where they were unable to maintain any balance. This became your opportunity, you pulled out your hammer and begin attacking viciously.

Wan picked up on what you were trying to do too. He bends his knees and leaps into the air striking one of the biters int he face with the heel of his shoe. The head bends back until an audible crack is heard. The zombie falls to the ground and is climbed upon by another. You and Wan continue fighting against the massive horde as Howard and Sublime stand back unable to fight without weapons themselves. Instead they give the two adults call outs as the Zombies close in.

You quickly grow tired but continue on. The moment you give in is the moment you die. As you and Wan continue to fight them all on one side, it creates a hole on the far right side as they continue squeezing into the left. The hole gradually grows bigger and bigger until you feel your group will be able to dart through it with a relentless sprint.

"Now, quickly let's go!" You shout as you fell one more biter and proceed to dash for the opening.

Wan is quick behind you followed by Sublime and Howard. Somehow you manage to break through the giant horde with no casualties and your lives in tact. Or at least you felt that way until the entire blockade began to collapse. You risk a look back over your shoulder and see the behemoth biter climbing over the giant pile of rubble. Apparently it had no intention of allowing you to escape. It continued by barreling through the large horde of smaller biters smashing them out of it's way and sending them flying. It wouldn't be long until it caught up to you.

Now Choose:
1 Votes A) Quickly, into a building. It can't fit through a door!
3 Votes B) Try to find a vehicle. Your only chance is to outrun it!

You decide to keep sprinting forward. It seems as though this giant biter is much faster than the other biters but unable to keep up with your group. You figure if you keep running and maybe find a vehicle you'll be able to outrun it! As you come around a corner you can't help but notice a large parking lot with many vehicles. The guard stand was filled with blood but you didn't have time to worry about that because the gate was open enough for you to slip through.

As you slip through, Sublime slips through behind you. The two of you quickly start checking car doors to find one unlocked. As wan get's through he also joins in perusing for open cars. Howard begins to slip through but his pant leg becomes stuck. He instantly begins to panic and calls for help. Just as you're about to rush over Wan finds an open car and begins to hot wire it while he motions for you and Sublime to go help Howard.

As you start to run towards Howard you can't help but notice a giant shadow appear behind him. The tank wastes no time in pushing Howard through the fence. Literally through the fence. His body burst into a gory bit of mist and chunks as he is pushed through a chain link fence. Though a large part of his upper torso and head that was already through the open bit stared at you. A tear formed in the corner of his eye as he looked at the two of you.

"Please, finish my Poke`Dex!" His final words made absolutely no sense, but you didn't have time to complain.

You grabbed Sublime's hand and dragged her away, just in time as Wan managed to get the car started. As you got closer you saw it was a Corvette, it's alarm started to go off. The V8 engine roared with the desire to haul ass, and the exhaust purred with life. You didn't care though, it could have been a Geo Metro, as long as it got you away from that giant biter.

You shoved Sublime in and climbed in yourself. Wan didn't even give you time to shut the door before he sped off. The shocks barely absorbed the speed bump Wan completely ignored as he smashed through the gate. On the main street the engine howled with power as the vehicle ripped down the street. Oddly enough, the giant biter didn't even seem to follow. As if it could, Wan was practically going airborne through the uneven pavement in the intersections.

Before long, you found your group in the suburbs, all three of you and a few chunks of Howard in your hair. You decided to check on Sublime, who was in a deep sleep with her makeup running and tears streaming down her face. You realized just how tired you were too, with the sun setting and the night growing dark. You realize despite being in the dense suburbs the biter activity was barely evident.

"We should stop somewhere and get some rest."

Wan seems skeptical of your idea, "We should wait until we're out of the suburbs."

Now Choose:
2 Votes A) Find a place to get some rest now.
3 Votes B) Push on, you're not out of harms way yet.[.b]

"You're right, we should at least try to get out of here before we even think about rest."

In your tired state the suburbs seem to fly by. Soon you start seeing more and more trees. Before long you realize you're in a forest, and it's incredibly dark. Unfortunately the road seems to be lined by nothing but trees and from the looks of things there is nowhere to stop for the night. This drags on for about another twenty minutes before you reach a gas station. The station has several corpses in it's parking lot with trails of blood leading towards the back.

Wan begins to pull in and you give him a strange look "Why the hell are we stopping here?"

"We're just about out of gas." Wan answers. He's definitely the silent stoic type.

As the vehicle stops at a pump a loud crack is heard followed by a hole forming in the hood of the car. "Don't get out, stay where you are!"

You decide the best course of action, armed only with a hammer, is to oblige his suggestion. You remain motionless, but Sublime was woken by the gunshot and starts panicking. You manage to restrain her and tell her to calm down and shut up. She listens without any complaint, but you can see she is back to crying again.

You decide to console her, "Look, I know you're in a lot of pain from losing your friend. We all are! Wan doesn't show it, but that's just the way he is. We're going to be okay though, I promise!"

As you finished talking to Sublime, a man approaches the vehicle armed with a military looking assault rifle. Though it's the civilian version, the man is clearly not military either. He's rather average looking with short black hair, a thick and powerful looking mustache and a long and curly goatee. As he walks closer a light mounted on the rifle illuminates the interior of the vehicle temporarily blinding it's inhabitants.

"Nobody is bitten right? I see some of you have a bit of blood on you." The man screams through the windows.

Wan cracks one of the windows and answers out of it, "None of us are bitten, one of our friends was torn apart in front of us."

"Oh, well then you have my condolences. Go ahead and get out of the vehicle."

The group listens and climbs out very slowly so as not to set off his instinct to shoot like a maniac. He continues checking the group, probably trying to verify that none of them were bitten. He makes his way by one by one checking each of them. He stops momentarily and pulls out a cigarette, lighting it and taking a deep drag.

"Call me Gary. I take it you're out of gas too? Well there is none here at this station."

"You mean we stopped for nothing?"

"Relax, it's the middle of the night. I cleared out all those freaks that were here. I was in the process of chucking their bodies in the dumpster round back when your group showed up. Go inside, get some food and some rest. Plenty of stuff still in there."

You feel reassured, and lead Sublime inside. You notice Wan staying outside and without being asked begins helping Gary move the corpses. You can't help but feel uneasy about this Gary character as he seems significantly well too armed for this scenario. You decide to discuss the matter with Sublime while the two of you head to the restrooms to clean up.

"Do you think we should try to get away from this guy? He does have a gun, what if he's going to try to take advantage of us? Wan seems to trust him."

Now Choose:
1 Votes A) Try to get out of there, ditch Wan if you have to. This guy seems a little too happy about the situation.
3 Votes B) You're incredibly fatigued and exhausted. A good nights sleep will be the most important thing.

Sublime turns and looks at you and shakes her head. "Forget those men, let's just go!"

You place your hands on her shoulders for a moment. "Let's not be rash. Where would we go? Into the woods by ourselves? Let's just get some rest tonight. We still outnumber that man. Besides, I think he was just being careful, and I honestly don't blame him."

Sublime sobs for a moment before embracing you. This whole situation must have been draining on her. Hell, she just lost one of her only remaining friends. You figured you had to be some kind of caring model for her, and as you continued to act in such a way you felt that bond actually start to become true.

You and Sublime finish cleaning off and washing Howard out of your hair. You give him a final goodbye as he spins down the drain of the sink to vanish forever. As the two of you exit the bathroom you find Wan now armed with a sawed off semi automatic shotgun. There was a large duffel bag between Wan and Gary obviously loaded with ammunition and firearms.

"Ladies! I just got done talking with Wan outside. He informed me on your situation and I've come to trust your group, so I'll let you in on my weapon stash. Can't have you running around with just a hammer now. Not if we're going to survive!" Gary seemed to bellow with cheerfulness, which was kind of upbringing in their current situation.

You couldn't help yourself either but to begin digging into the bag. Most of what was in the bag you couldn't help but feel it had to be illegal. You grab the first weapon that calls out to you, it was a futuristic looking bullpup shaped assault rifle with a large clear magazine that was fed in through the top.

"Ah, good choice! There there is a fully automatic FN P90. It fires the 5.7x28mm and wont present too much kick. It's also fairly light, and you should be able to handle it quite nicely." Gary's knowledge of weaponry was kind of scary.

"Well, I can sleep easier now knowing we're armed. I guess I'll take the first watch though." You announce to the group.

Sublime began digging through as well and came out with two .22 pistols with incredibly long magazines.

"Nonsense, I'll take the first watch," Gary announced, he seemed agitated by something and that made you slightly uncomfortable, "After all, I'm already loaded up on Monster Engergy drinks, I can hardly sit still."

So that explained it, he must have been chugging energy drinks since this happened and he was incredibly hyperactive up.

Now Choose:
0 Votes A) Let Gary have the first watch. You don't exactly trust him yet, but he did give you guns.
0 Votes B) Take the first watch anyway, you still can't trust Gary. Even if he gave you guns.

"Well then, first watch is yours. Enjoy it!"

You and Sublime use bath curtains you found on the shelves to make the "Ladies" corner where the two of you could have some privacy. The two of you also managed to find some sleeping bags which you rolled out in your sectioned off sleeping quarters. The privacy wasn't the best, but it would have to do. You take your watch off and begin fumbling with it's functions as you set it's alarm to go off in four hours when you would take the next watch. It didn't take very long for the two of you to fall asleep either. In fact, the moment you got comfortable it almost seemed instant.

Though it wouldn't last, in about four hours you heard a beeping. You shot straight up in your sleeping bag just in time to catch Gary peeking up Sublime's skirt who opted not to sleep in her bag rather on top of it because it was too hot. Without a moments hesitation you grab your rifle and point the barrel directly at Gary.

"Pervert!" You speak in a hushed but elevated voice so as to not wake Sublime up.

"Am not, I was just coming in here to wake you up."

"Liar!"

"Okay, maybe I was sneaking a bit of a peak. But I'm a man in the apocalypse. What can you expect? Though I originally was coming in to wake you up. My eyes just couldn't help themselves."

You shake your head, the desire to blow his brains out was quite strong, but you decided to forgive him for now. Gary backs up and sneaks back to his sleep area without a sound. You then resume the watch.

The watch is incredibly boring, staring off into the darkness with nothing to see. It goes on like this, one hour, then two, then finally on the third hour something catches your eye. A biter staggering through the forest quite aimlessly. You pull your rifle up and look at it through the sights. You could hit it in the face right now but you hesitate.

Now Choose:
3 Votes A) Let it go by. No sense in creating a ruckus, waking everybody up, and drawing in more zombies.
2 Votes B) Payback for Howard! Die you bastard zombie!

You ease off the trigger. Conserve your ammo, this one isn't a threat. It will be best to let this one go. Another hour goes by and you're woken up by a tapping on the window.

"Shoot, I fell asleep." You mutter to yourself as you slowly become aware of your surroundings. You look outside the window and realize the entire window is now a wall of zombies. You don't even know how to react, did you just doom your group? How did so many Zombies get there in so little time? Still the windows were plate glass, they would have a hard time getting in.

You decide to wake Wan up first to alert him to the situation. You lie about falling asleep and tell him the swarm came out of nowhere. No sense in becoming the first sacrifice of the group either. Wan proceeds to go alert Gary of the situation while you go and wake up Sublime. The situation was now what you could call dire.

As you and Sublime get ready as fast as you possibly can Gary and Wan seem to be already discussing a plan to get you out of there. As you and Sublime approach the two of them they seem to finalize their plans and turn to the two of you.

"We need to get on the roof, it's our only chance to get out of here." Wan says to you, and the idea does seem logical.

"From there, we can blow stuff up." Gary finished off the plan as he came out of his duffel bag with several large blocks of C4 plastic explosives.

Go figure this deranged pervert who looks up the skirts of schoolgirls while they're sleeping would have high yield explosives, "And how do we get to the roof?"

"There is a service ladder around the back. We already broke the lock on it. We just need the two of you to stay here and distract them freaks at the window so we can get out the side door and get around back. Assuming the whole building isn't swarmed anyway. From there we'll climb onto the roof. As soon as you see the first block of C4 land in that group, hit the deck. I'll blow it in five seconds. That will blow them apart and shatter the window. From there the two of you will scramble to the trees over there and provide us with cover fire as we jump down and get the hell out of here. Conserve your ammo though."

The plan seemed perfect, but slightly crazy. "Couldn't we just shoot our way out?"

Now Choose:
3 Votes A) Go with Gary and Wan's plan.
1 Votes B) Just go crazy and start shooting.

"Okay, we'll distract them at the window!" You grab sublimes hand and she follows you to the window.

At the same time, Wan and Gary proceed to the side door and barge out haphazardly. You notice the zombies become distracted by the sudden noise at the side but you and Sublime start waving frantically and yelling to keep their attention. You can no longer see Wan and Gary but can only hope they're doing fine on their end.

As you keep the attention at the window you can hear footsteps on the roof. You can't determine how many sets but have to assume they both made it. You bring your attention to the window in front of you just in time to see a large block of explosives flying out in front of it. Without hesitation you grab Sublime and drag her to the ground with you while using your body to protect her as much as possible.

A sudden burst and you feel a violent shock wave pass over you followed by countless shards of glass. You waste no time climbing to your feet with Sublime and darting out the window. The two of you make a mad dash without any concern for the biters around you until you're far enough away. As the two of you turn around and look back you can see you could have taken your time. The majority of the zombies were dismembered by the large blast and those that weren't were knocked down.

Wan and Gary leaped down and proceeded to run towards the two of you. At this point there wasn't even a need to shoot a single round as the biters could hardly move themselves. But now your group had to move on, and on foot as well. You had no idea where you were going, but you were sure you would come up with some ideas later on. For now, your group just followed the road.

Several hours after walking down the road you could hear the approach of a large vehicle coming from behind you. The four of you stop and turn around to see what it could be. Slowly but surely an olive drab colored truck came roaring up the road at a casual pace. The cavalry had arrived! The vehicle sees your group and lays on the horn. You and Sublime frantically wave at it to let the people inside know you're human.

The vehicle slows to a stop, and there are about 20 armed soldiers in the back as well as two more in the cabin. "You survivors, anybody bit?"

"You shake your head."

"Good, get in the back. You're being drafted by the national guard. Martial law is now in effect."

Now Choose: Voting is now being increased to five votes to win.
0 Votes A) Well, they are somewhat here to save you. Join the National Guard?
5 Votes B) You didn't fight your way through hordes of zombies only to go back and fight them. Flee into the woods!

"I'm afraid we're not fighters. We've barely survived on our own." You speak to him, trying to convince them to let you go.

"I don't think you understand the concept of a draft. You don't have a choice but to join up." The man from the truck shouted at you. "The men can go, but you ladies will become conjugal morale troops."

Gary stepped forward, "I don't think you understand the concept of go f*** yourself."

Gary then proceeded to open fire into the cab of the truck as he waved for the rest of you to get lost. The rounds pierced the truck killing both inhabitants in the cab. At the sound of gunfire the men in the back turned and locked and loaded their weapons rapidly taking aim. You grab Sublime's hand and proceed to run off into the woods frantically seeking cover from the bullets that were about to come.

Within seconds you heard nothing but gunfire and you were already fairly deep into the woods. You couldn't see Wan with you either, but you kept running. Surely those two would be alright, right?

Meanwhile back on the road, Gary badly bleeding collapses to the ground. Wan, also severely injured barely manages to stand on his feet. Several soldiers disembarked from the back of the truck and approached the two men. One stopped in front of Wan with a smirk on his face and was about to rifle butt him when Wan rapidly pulled up his sawed off shotgun and put a several buckshot through his abdomen. The man died instantly. The other soldiers riddled Wan with even more bullets finally ending his life.

"Ha, tough one, that tiny Asian kid was." One of the soldiers said as they made their way over to Gary's body.

The one soldier proceeded to poke Gary with the barrel of his rifle. Bad choice, as this woke Gary up from his unconsciousness and allowed him to press the button on the switch he held in his hand. Several blocks of C4 detonated all at once wiping out the truck, Gary, and all the soldiers.

You and Sublime come to a halt when you hear the loud explosion. As you get ready to turn around to see what happened a massive shock wave knocked you and Sublime back onto the ground. Several moments later you awaken and climb back up to your knees. You check on Sublime and see that she is okay. You help her to her feet as she eventually stirs as well. The sun was cresting the horizon and that meant now you definitely had to start moving. In daylight, more soldiers would eventually come looking for the missing truck.

The two of you continued running through the woods. It seemed like a couple of hours when you come to an old dirt road. There seem to be houses going up and down the road. The entire road seems peaceful and isolated. Perhaps there were still people who were still normal down this small dirt road.

Now Choose:
5 Votes A) Go from house to house and carefully check to see if anybody is around. If there is somebody, knock on their door and hope that they can help you.
3 Votes B) Steal a car and continue to get the hell away from where you are.
2 Votes C) Avoid this small community altogether. Stick to the woods and travel around it while observing the community as well. Don't make any rash decisions.

You decide to be incredibly careful from now on. You realize you can't trust anybody except for Sublime. In this chaos, it seems the entire world has been thrust into a greed driven survival match. You hold Sublimes hand as the two of you make a crouch walk to the nearest house. Everything seems so peaceful and quiet like nothing was wrong in the world. The two of you make it up to the wall unnoticed, or you at least assume unnoticed. You can't hear anything through the wall but notice a window just above you.

You decide to risk a peek, standing up very slowly until your eye just barely crested the bottom of the window. It looked like nobody was inside the house, not even signs of inhabitants. You find that strange because there was a car in the driveway. You proceed to walk along the wall towards the back of the house and again, find the lawn well maintained and everything to be immaculate but no presence of people.

You make your way to the next house and find the exact same thing. Something was incredibly strange in this small development. Only a few of the homes had vehicles parked in the driveway, but they were all incredibly well maintained. You decide to keep moving, something just didn't seem right about the town. You find yourself following the road and see something shimmering in the distance. Possibly a pond. As you're about to step out onto the road you hear the sound of an engine and tires moving on dirt and gravel. Before you have a chance to duck back into the woods you see a green sports utility vehicle right in front of you.

Without hesitation you pull your rifle up and take aim at the occupants. You can't even tell what they look like from here but only see their silhouettes. You decide not to do anything rash. You notion to Sublime to stay in the woods and cover you from there.

"Stay in the car!" You shout as you start to move closer, keeping your finger on the trigger.

As you get closer and closer you can see what looks like a family who had been through some rather rough things, you approach the drivers door and knock on the window. The driver lowers the window and you can see that he is bleeding badly from his shoulder from what looks like a bite wound. You remember being asked if you were bitten earlier and you've come to assume that's how the disease was spread.

"You've been bit. You're going to become one of them." You speak in a calm tone, but you can see the fear in his families eyes.

"No, he wont. He's a doctor, we're just trying to get to our summer home where we can hide." The man's wife responds.

"Don't kid yourselves, he's going to turn and kill all of you. Get rid of him while you can, or I will."

The wife seems instantly alarmed, "Don't you dare harm a hair on my husbands head!"

Now Choose:
1 Votes A) Kill the man without hesitation. Sure, it would probably traumatize the mans family, but they would stand a better chance surviving.
5 Votes B) Whatever, let him eat his family. Not your problem.
3 Votes C) Kill the whole lot of them. Check it out, you have a new car!

"Fine go about your business then. Butcher and eat the flesh of your family, I don't care. A real man would and any threat to his family, even if it were himself. Go on coward, you disgust me." You spit the truth as brutally as you possibly can while you turn your back on their vehicle.

The vehicles tires bight into the dirt, it's rear end swayed back and forth as it took off coughing up puffs of dirt. You feel you should get involved, but realize it's not worth your time. Though you do finally realize these homes are well kept and uninhabited for a reason. It was a small resort town of the sorts. Most of it's inhabitants would probably ever return which causes you to believe this town may in fact be a good place to scavenge for supplies.

Now Choose: (Remember, back down to 3 votes for progression due to decreased activity)!
3 Votes A) Scavenge the town for supplies. At best there may eventually be a single zombie family.
0 Votes B) Best to move on. No need putting down a family of Old Yellers.

You watch the truck drive all the way to the end of the street and pull into a random driveway. You give Sublime a look and nod confirming an agreement in salvaging these houses. The two of you turn around and begin walking back up the dirt road and approach the first house on your left. You try the door, and find it locked. Nothing a hammer wont unlock, seeing as the door was made of glass.

If only breaking and entering was always this easy. You and Sublime climb through the door frame making sure to watch for hanging shards of glass as you find your way inside. The house is dark and looks as though nobody had been in it in months.

The first thing you begin looking for is clean clothes as your clothing had seen better days. Venturing upstairs you find the bedrooms. You see that two of the rooms have nothing but children's things and conclude the final room to be the parents.

You let Sublime go in and get out of her school clothes (finally). As you wait outside the room you can't help but hear a panicked scream and can only conclude the man had finally turned. You're not sure whether you should go investigate or leave them to their own demise.

Now Choose:
0 Votes A) Better go investigate. Sublime can take care of herself.
0 Votes B) Forget them, I'm not leaving Sublime by herself.
