Chojuro's Tales: Prolouge
Little flakes of snow began to fall on Chojuro's nose. It was the first time it had snowed in Kirigakure. He could feel the cold as he breathed out little puffs. He giggled as the thought of something so innocent could fall on land where much trouble had befallen it. He considered himself lucky after all. Despite being almost 16, Chojuro still felt like a kid inside. He felt a kind of bubbliness that most would never even think of showing, especially here in the mist.
He looked onward from the balcony he was on. Outside his house he could see the children playing in the snow. The frosted trees hid some of them. Almost protecting them from something. It was a rare sight though to see them outside playing. Lately the air had been quite cold and gloomy. But now it seemed an almost different hue. The white snow below reflected a bright glow. It reminded him of the time he and a close friend had gone swimming in the summer. Despite having been told to not wander away, he and Chijin trekked across the forest to reach a nearby falls. Although it was quite small, it seemed to be perfect for two friends. As they swam they reveled in the crystal water and the freedom of being alone. Then as they sat to dry Chijin asked Chojuro....
"What do you think of me?
"What do you mean?
"Do you think that I am more than just a ninja?"
"I..I..uh...I think you are....oh look at the grass."
Chojuro! Stop playing dumb. I asked you a question."
"Um...well I think you are quite....(mutters) cute."
"(giggles) Ah okay...I see."

Chijin gives a bright, warm smile to Chojuro who was blushing. It was more noticeable now since Chojuro was pale-skinned. This was the first time Chijin had made a move on Chojuro. It was hard to say yes but Chojuro didn't want to lose his best friend. Together they had been on many adventures and through many hardships. It's hard to love someone so much but turn around and say the opposite. One thing Chojuro was really afraid of was being alone. It was a dark and sad place that he had been to.
As Chojuro came back to his senses, he looked forward towards the mountains in the distance. He gave a deep sigh and closed his eyes. A cool breeze bristled across his face. He had never felt so relieved yet quite distraught at the same time. He found it hard to have two conflicting thoughts at once. It's just one of those things you learn to deal with as you get older. He had found this new world to be a little more colder than that of his childhood. Things change and people too. But today, at least in his head, was going to be different. He would get some fresh air other than from his balcony. It had been too long and frankly he could care less if anyone had something to say about it. He headed back in and walked towards his door. As he grabbed the doorknob, his closed his eyes. Scared at where he was going. Where was he running to now? He squinted his eyes as he opened the door and let the light inside. He felt himself shake and it wasn't due to the cold. Could he do it? But as he felt his strength leave him, a small snowflake fell on his nose again. And Chojuro opened his eyes in awe. It was almost as if Chijin was there, cheering him on and telling him it was going to be okay. He smiled and under his breath said, "...thank you..."
