The Chinese are interesting. Kinda off topic, but I've just read that during the construction of the Transsiberian Railway, the Chinese that were lucky enough to be hired, devolved the job to other Chinese workers. These sub-employees then did the whole job, while the originally hired Chinese -out of whose grace the rest could work- supervised the performance of their subordinates. They shared the salary fifty-fifty. (Of course the Russian foreman -chinovnyik- was scratching his head the next day, how come there were twice as many Chinese present than originally hired xd) I guess this is nothing unique in history, but interesting to note the wit of Chinese people. Another anecdote I find notable is how during the cold war, small islands near the Chinese mainland adapted to the circumstances and forged a living out of death. Islands like Kinmen belong to Taiwan, and the two opposing forces (the communist China and the republican Taiwan) had been launching bombs at each other for decades. Out of the bombshells, the inhabitants of these islands made knives, machetes and other tools - a whole industry was based on the steel and metal fired from the motherland.
All in all, I'm quite sure that an exam like SAT doesn't mean much in survival- at least not to the Chinese.
