Comparing Wind Style Rasengan with Chidori would be more appropriate, since a regular Rasengan has no nature to it. Unfortunately, we have seen very little of the WSR. Rasenshuriken is on a whole different level.

personally speaking I would rather be hit with Rasengan than a Chidori since a chidori has a chance not to hit a vital spot yea it'll hurt like **** but I could strike you with an attack where as I get hit with a Rasengan I'm gonna be ****ed vital spot or not

Looking back from the fight Sasuke and Naruto had on the roof of the hospital back in (Naruto) not Shippudden, Sasuke and Naruto were going to clash the Chidori and Rasengan together and Sakura got in the way, both of them couldn't stop in time and Kakashi steps in and tosses them both at seperate water towers. At first it shows Sasuke's arm in the tower and he pulls it out with water rushing out of it and Naruto just made a tiny little hole leaving us to believe that Chidori is superior. But when Sasuke looks at the other side Naruto's Rasengan burst through the other side with practically the back of the water tower missing taking the water from the tower with it. So i gotta go with the Rasengan to be more powerful.

Chidori has a more concentrated power

Rasengan has a more explosive power ....Rasenshuriken is still better

Yes Chidori is made for assassinating. Rasengan is an incomplete jutsu. Obviously Chidori > Rasengan
The one is made of nature chakra, Rasengan is made of pure chakra.
However, rasengan used in the right way (giant rasengan) is pretty deadly tho, and is effective against larger enemies, where chidori is useless.

Only two have survived Radengan. Kabuto because he was a masterful user of medical jutsu, and Obito twice (once because the side of he was hit on was Senju DNA, and the second was because of the strength of the Mask/plot progression).

Everyone else was one hit one kill. Pains, Itachi double, countless Zetsu, etc.......Also Sasuke technically survived, but Naruto aimed at the headband.

Also on the top of the Hospital it showed their differences. Chidori specializes in piercing attacks where Rasengan is a demolishing tool.

Chidori is a spear, lance, sword
Rasengan is a mace, war club, or hammer

Chidori pierced the container heavy st the front
Rasengan did minimal piercing damage, but ruptured the body (displayed at the back)
kabuto surived it but used all his chakra to try and heal the damage and he still passed out. when did naruto use a rasengan on obito's face? are u sure u guys are confusing the head butt he gave him.

Rasengan - A RANK (Incomplete)
Chodori - A RANK

Raikiri - S rank
Wind rasengan - S rank (Only one person was able to combine it with a nature manipulation)

Rasengan to the face means u have no face, chdori/raikiri puts a nice hole in ur face.

The rasengan and chodori on a small scale is the same, but if you use a big rasengan then chodori or raikiri have no chance.

The wind rasengan shouldn't be mentioned here because this tech is on another level like the bjuu bomb(which is the same as the rasengan byt using the tailed beast dense powerful chakra)

in all scenarios where rasengan was used it never delivers a killer blow even direcet hits are survivable obito literally took a rasengan to the face and survived a chidori here would have ended the fight 4 some reason rasengan is ranked higher then chidori yet it is less likely to kill a target take obito vs minato? minato violated obito with one yet he lived a chidori there would also do more lasting damage so what are your thoughts on this ?
They're both different techs, so it depends on the situation imo

If you look at Tobi's mask being broken, you have to remember that it didn't break when Naruto Headbutted it in 9tails mode, so it wasn't any ordinary mask. It's a war mask.

When we saw Naruto/Sasuke hit their respective water tanks on the top of Konoha's hospital, Sasuke's applied more direct force whereas Naruto's created a huge amount of momentum and blasted through the back of the tank.

The main reason a Chidori can take on a Rasengan is because it is penetrating though the Rasengan whereas the Rasengan is attpempting to disrupt the chidori.

So if you want to do more overall damage, Rasengan is the way to go. If you want to hit a certian target (eg the heart) then Chidori may overall be a more fatal choice, as it's better for surgical strikes and is classified as an "assassination tech"

Chidori is a piercing technique, so when you hit somebody with it your hand goes through them. If you've hit a vital organ, bam the guy is dead.

Rasengan is not a piercing weapon, but seems to act more like a really powerful punch or something else dull but with a lot of force (and rotation).

If you pierce with chidori but miss the vital organs, you might get stuck. It's supposed to be a 1-hit kill and if you don't do it right, you're done. Rasengan is more of a power weapon: Even a light touch can smash the enemy, breaking bones and doing all sorts of damage. Compare some of the images we've seen during the ninja war of Kakashi stabbing some enemies with chidori, vs Naruto smashing some enemies to bits with rasengan, and driving some enemies into little craters from so much impact force.

In other words, Chidori is like a sword, Rasengan is like a hammer. Both can really hurt you, but they hurt in different ways and have different uses.
