Hey people i was just wondering
whats the difference between a chidori and a raikiri?

Yes but the name of the Raikiri and Chidori both come from Japanese mythology. Chidori was originally a name of a sword that was handed down to a Samurai and unfortunately, while taking shelter from a thunderstorm under a tree he was struck by lightning and apparently he used his chidori sword to cut the thunder god within the bolt of lightning and after that event, he renamed his chidori to raikiri - lightning cutter. That would be the precipice for "hence the name".

Just because someone takes time to wiki something does not mean they know a lot. More topically, "hence the name" does apply: if raikiri is the "lightning blade (or cutter)" and chidori was a hand-me-down sword, then raikiri is still implied to be greater. Being that, chidori is the thrift store acquisition of raikiri.

whoever said chidori is with fingers raikiri is with palm i can see what your getting at but its actually incorrect sasuke used chidori with his palm vs deidara it doesnt matter if you use a palm strike or finger strike though i think fingers would have better penetration if you think that sounds wrong then your a twisted person Snm xD

They're both based on the same concept. The user concentrates Lightning-based chakra in their hand. Then, utilizing the speed of the thrust, the user pierces the enemy with their Lightning enhanced hand. The Chidori/Raikiri, according to Gai, is an assassination move based on it's ability to one-hit kill.

The Kakashi's Raikiri is a stronger version of the Chidori. It requires seals to prepare as evident during Kakashi's fight with Zabuza

The Chidori is a lesser version of the Raikiri and can be used without seals.
