I'm reviving this thread that I made a while back. I thought it was an interesting topic with a lot of great replies, so...
I've been thinking that there are a lot of characters we all love and wish that there was more development on them, or that they didn't die. So, here's my list of people who I think should get a Gaiden like Itachi.
PS: What I see that Gaiden does (or is doing for Itachi) is take the back stories of a charater and making it more refined and detailed, more satisfying and presentable, almost like a movie. I think that Kishi should do an entire
Gaiden series for each character, or at least the ones listed below. It doesn't have to be a lot, just like 5 episodes each.
Quick Access:
1. Minato
2. Sakumo Hatake
3. Dan Kato and Iruka Umino
4. Tailed Beasts
5. Gaara
6. Jinchuuruki
7. Sasori
8. Neji
1. Minato: His child hood could easily be an anime on it's own, I personally love his background story with Kushina ext. I feel like there wasn't enough detail and development on his story, mostly because he died, and that there's so much more we could have seen of his childhood and his experiences.
2. Sakumo Hatake: I wish their was a Gaiden for Sakumo, I would honestly LOVE to see what his arsenal was like, the kind of person he was was growing up, his skills, maybe his crushes, his lover. I would totally be on Sakumo Base, but since there isn't enough development for him, I don't even think there is a base. Despite having killed his self, leaving his child to grow up alone, I like to think that he was a very cool dad, very strong and skilled and willful. Too bad Karachi didn't have any children, or he would have been a cool dad too
3. Iruka and Dan Kato: I think that these two characters are extremely similar despite the lack of detail on Dan's part. Whenever I see them, I just see similarities in smile. personality, ext. I know there is a lot of development on Iruka's part, about his past and present, ext. But I want to see his experience more in depth, more detailed. His pain of losing his parents, his struggles, ext. The same for Dan, unfortunately he died young, but I would still like to see more about his time being with Tsunade, could make for a very interesting love story, like Minato and Kushina. I honestly think young Tsunade and Dan were such a cute couple, and I would have like to see more detailed screen time for them.
4. The Tailed Beast: I would have liked to see what the tailed beasts were like as children, growing up and playing with each other and the Sage of Six Paths. It would be a funny little skit to have the little tailed beats going on adventures around the world before returning to Hagoromo at sunset. I can picture their personalities, who bonded with each other and who hated each other. Kurama would be the leader of the pack, and Shukaku would always complain about "why do we always have to listen to you", and Matatabi would have to break them apart while Chomei and Saiken watched silently from the background. I could tell that Chomei and Saiken were probably really good, close bonded friends when they were young and free and with Hago.
5. Gaara: I feel like...I don't know, I felt like there was a gap between those three years Naruto was gone, when Gaara became Kazekage, I wanted to see his experiences, his struggles, ext. There could be a garden showing his child hood, him meeting naruto, him becoming Kazekage, ext. I'm sure there's something like this on the Naruto Storm games though.
6. All Jinchuuruki: I would definitely like a Gaiden for all the canon jinchuuruki in the anime. I'm very interested in Roshi and Yugito the most. Would be cool *shrugs*
7. Sasori: I personally think almost all of the Akatsuki deserve a Gaiden, but Sasori especially. I find his back story to be very interesting.
8. Neji: I just came to the realization that Neji would be the perfect candidate for a Gaiden. Honestly, looking back at his child hood, it has so much potential and could be very entertaining to watch in a more refined version. I don't mean his time with Naruto and the CE and all, I mean when his father was still alive, and his adventures/thoughts as a kid.
So, from all I felt like typing, that's my list of characters that lacked development or should have been developed more, or just should have had a more detailed background or episode reserved for them. *shrugs* Tell me what you think, who do you think should be on this list, and who should be taken off?
