who are the top 5 naruto characters that you believe has had the best character development?

this doesn't necessarily mean power increase, but who has had the most development? like for example hinata, used to be a coward couldn't do anything for herself, didn't even have a hobby. Now she's standing tall, never quiting and never going back on her ninja way, a complete turnaround.

It would be Itachi, we all thought he was evil and selfish but he did that for Konoha.

Itachi is arguably the most developed character; he started out as a villain with a complex background, after which we discover that he is actually a tragic hero: great character development. Among that, we're presented with a plethora of information regarding his back-story, his unfortunate past, the Uchiha's clan slaughter, etc.

He's just that go-to nigga.

the top five not in order are in my eyes Naruto (went from loser to hero), Hinata (went from timid girl to confident woman), Itachi, Sasuke (went from good guy to sociopathic villian), and Shikamaru.

I made this thread literally a week ago, ugh.

Mine will forever be Chouji, that guy has gone through so much and has literally developed more than most of the characters in the series. Also can I just say Itachi and Kakashi have had no character development AT ALL!? The only difference Itachi has had was realising his plan went wrong. The whole point of Kakashi's character is that he never changes.

Well, the common consensus seems to be Itachi, and I don't disagree. Itachi is very well developed. His background is greatly complex, and it was definitely a surprising twist in the story when it was revealed that he was actually a hero. But to tell you the truth, I don't think Itachi's story is that original. . .I've said this before, but his situation is almost exactly like Snape's. He's a man who is forced to work in an evil organization for the sake of protecting something he loves. But yeah, I still have to agree, Itachi is definitely one of the most well developed characters.
