The sun had barely peaked the snowy mountains tops, when Roxy jumped on Dolth’s stomach. She had slept over as she usually did. (Since Dolth’s parents never checked up on him they were never caught (*btw, it’s nothing sexual they are best friends))
Dolth: di-di-di-diiiiiii!!!!! *groans*
Roxy: wake up sleepy!
Dolth: it’s not even light out! I’m not getting up. *turns over, and pulls the covers up*
Roxy: Get up and be here with me, I want to remember this day; it’s our first day of the ninja academy. Let’s watch the sun come up and then get some breakfast
*Roxy jangles the rings around her neck*
-Dolth really didn’t want to get out of bed, but knew Roxy would make him regret the decision later
*grudgingly Dolth got out of bed, and stumbled to the window sill where Roxy already had her legs dangling out in the crisp morning air. He jumped up and did the same*
Roxy: such a beautiful sight *sigh*
Dolth: yup… *honestly Dolth didn’t think it was so great, he saw the sun every day and didn’t think this was anything special*
Once the sun had risen up well past the mountain peaks, Dolth suggested that they go out to get breakfast. Dolth and Roxy had a pleasant breakfast from the bakery, which Dolth paid for (As he always did). After which they headed to the academy for the first time.
*Roxy jumped up and down and grabbed Dolth’s arm*
Roxy: I’m so excited!!!
To tell the truth, Dolth hadn’t even thought about becoming a ninja. He was pushed into it by Roxy, which had put up a very good argument as to why he should join with her. But right now Dolth was seriously questioning his ability to say “no”, and vowed to get better at doing so…
Throughout the next year Dolth and Roxy attended the institution learning about chakra and simple jutsu’s. Roxy was at the top of the class at everything except classwork and theories about the workings of chakra. Dolth on the other hand was very good at… mediocrity. He was middle of the class, not horrible not exceptional.
soon it was the test day to become a genin, Dolth was a nervous mess. The class was buzzing with anxious chatter. All but Roxy, who was serenely starring out the window.
Roxy: nice day
Dolth: how can u be thinking about the weather at a time like this!!
*the teacher comes into the classroom at that instance*
Teacher: ok class, let’s get this started!
The test was performed in front of a council of the village’s respected ninja’s. After the test, had finished the teacher posted a list of the students that passed and those who didn’t.
Dolth peered at the list, reading name after name of the students that passed. Roxy was the first on the list, of course. His eyes were approaching the end of the list, still his name hadn’t appeared. Dolth’s eye stopped on the very last name on the page, Blake Tuski. A band seemed to tighten around his chest, he checked the list again. Again he finished reading the list without coming across his name… he had failed the test
Distraught over learning that he hadn’t made the rank of genin Dolth walked out of the institution with a look of desecration across his face. he walked all the way to the market and was shuffling down the street when Roxy came up behind him.
Roxy: stop looking so down! So what you fail once, quit being such a cynic!
-Dolth couldn’t help but grin a tiny bit
Roxy: come on, ill train you. The official graduation ceremony is still a couple months away. If you can convince them to let you try to pass again then I assure you that I will train you night and day until the council sees you and they WILL pass you with a plethora of applause
Dolth: …
*Roxy grabbed his hand and dragged him to the training field where their first of many train sessions would be conducted*
After a month and a half of rigorous training, and a convincing the council to meet (which Dolth had to use his important last name card, which he hated to do) Dolth finally passed the test and was able to move on to become a genin. At the ceremony, which was lavishly conducted, it was announced what squad everyone would be in Roxy, Dolth, and a boy named Nimur were grouped together in squad three.
