Chapter two~ meeting people!

Black smoke filled the room as Kakashi attempted to make…something.

You: Kakashi? Can you read directions?

Kakashi: Directions are for people with no creativity and imagination!

You: Directions are for people who don’t want to die of starvation or a stove fire! What was it you were making anyway?

Kakashi: Uh, I kinda forgot after the pot burst into flames.

You: You’re not a cook I take it?

Kakashi: Are you any better?

You: I couldn’t have survived on raw things. I cooked and I cooked very well.

Kakashi: Well, tonight we’ll just head out to the ramen bar and you can cook breakfast tomorrow morning!

You: Deal! I’ll cook if you try not to burn stuff anymore.

Kakashi: You don’t have a coat do you? It’s gonna be a little chilly tonight.

You: Nope. I’ve had these clothes since I could barely fit in them. I stole them out of my sisters’ wardrobe before I ran away. She didn’t even notice. They swam on me despite how petite my sister was. I took a hoodie but that got lost somewhere.

Kakashi: Well then. Will you be okay going out like that?

You: I’ve gone through worse. I think I can stand it.

Kakashi: Okay, let’s go.

Kakashi opened the door and let you through first and you walked to the ramen bar in about 5-10 minutes. Kakashi asked you what flavor you would like.

You: I’m sick and tired of fish all the time. I’ll go with the chicken.

Kakashi: All right! One pork and one chicken.

The orders came fast and you slurped it down. (SM Lady like though!) You were full and tired and you wanted to sleep. Kakashi looked content too.

Kakashi: What do I owe ya?

Ramen chef: 746 yen my friend.

Kakashi: That’s a good deal!

Ramen Chef: Well we have some very loyal customers that pay very well, so that we don’t have to keep raising prices.

Kakashi: Good! I’ll see you around, okay?

Ramen Chef: See ya later Kakashi!

Kakashi: See ya!

You jumped off of the stool and started to walk out beside Kakashi. You got home in a matter of minutes, thanked Kakashi again, took a quick shower and went to bed before 10:30.

You: Overall, it was a good day Ren Takara!

You had pleasant dreams about completing the gennin test and having Kakashi as your sensei and eventually graduating to the ANBU.
You were woken by a shaking again on your shoulder. You opened your eyes and saw Kakashi there.

Kakashi: Show me your cooking skills.

You: *Yawn. * Alright, Grasshopper. Now you will learn from the frog how to prepare a decent, edible meal.

Kakashi: *Smiles. * (I think.) Show me the way.

You: Let me get up first, okay? I haven’t slept in a bed in years, let me celebrate.

Kakashi: Don’t celebrate too long. After breakfast I’m taking you down to the academy.

You: Academy? As in a school for learning ninja art academy?

Kakashi: Nope, a cooking academy. Yes ninja academy!

You: Let me get dressed, wait. I’m already dressed, let’s make some breakfast.

Kakashi: Alright, but one goal for you today. Make one friend who is a girl. Have her show you around and take you into the clothes stores and buy a wardrobe for yourself. Alright?

You: Yes, sir. Where will you leave the money? Don’t worry, I’m very cheap and will always look for the comfortable things that are extremely affordable.

Kakashi: Well that’s something good to know right off the bat! I’m going to leave you about 12,300 ¥ (about $115)

You: Alright, I should come back with extra. I’ll set it on the counter when I’m back at seven-thirty, right?

Kakashi: I’ll let you bend the rules because it’s the first night and you don’t know the town. 8:30 should give you enough time.

You: Okay. Let’s get breakfast on!

You looked through the cupboards and found some bread, eggs, butter, milk, salt and pepper to make the traditional scrambled eggs.

You: I taught myself how at a tender age. I’m amazed I can still remember. Come here, Kakashi. If you want to learn how to make eggs that is.

Kakashi: I’ll leave the cooking to you for the time being. I’ll pick it up some other time. Normally if I burn something I’ll just eat ramen for the rest of the week or at least until I’m ready to attempt cooking again.

You: *chuckles. * Well, here you go. Eggs and toast.

Kakashi was eating in the kitchen. You guessed that he took a bite and kept eating. Either he liked it or he was trying to not hurt your feelings!

You: Well, don’t keep me in suspense how is it?

Kakashi: They’re perfect! I don’t care if you hate them you got someone in your
families’ hand to cook!

You: *smiling. * Thank you! Though I’ve never seen anyone in my family cook, I’m pretty sure that was a complement!

Kakashi: It was.

You finished your meal and took yourself to the bathroom to brush your teeth and comb through your hair with your fingers.

You: “I need to buy a brush tonight also.”

You got out of the bathroom and saw Kakashi standing next to the door.

You: I hope you haven’t been waiting for long!

Kakashi: No, just about a minute or two.

You: Okay. Let’s go!

Kakashi led the way to the school and you were amazed by how quaint it looked. It gave you somewhat of a feeling that you belonged already because no one knows of your curse except for Kakashi and he doesn’t mind which is mind blowing to you. You waved and smiled to Kakashi before saying good-bye and entering the building. You went to the office and she pointed you the way to go and what room you were assigned to. You went to room 304 and entered quietly. The teacher in the room quickly noticed.

Teacher: Class, we have a new student today. She’s going to be joining us for the last week of the academy! Why don’t you tell us your name?

You: My name is Ren, that’s about all you need to know for now.

Teacher: Ren, do you have a last name?

You: I do but I’d rather you not use it.

You had everyone’s attention. They were either staring at you with weird unwelcoming faces or glaring at you. Except one kid who sat in the back staring out of the window. He looked lost and you looked out the window also to see if he was staring at something in particular. But it looked exactly the same as when you were outside. You turned your attention back to the class and quietly thought to yourself.

You: “Way to mess up an intro, Ren! You should’ve just said, ‘it’s Takara but please don’t call me that because it brings back horrible memories. Pleasure being here!’ Well, I know for sure that I’m never going to open up to these people, so why do I care?”

Teacher: Uh, by the way, Ren. My name is Iruka. You may take a seat anywhere you like and start to pay attention and if you have any questions on where we are, ask me after class. Okay?

You: Yes sensei, thank you.

Iruka: Yep, no problem!

You walked up to the second to back row and stared at the wall. You already knew he was talking about different forms of chakra. You’d heard Keiko brag that she’d learned it. The only thing that had gotten your attention was five minutes later when a blond kid, you thought maybe was the same rogue blond kid causing trouble, showed up very late to class. Iruka did not like that. The bell rang and you slowly turned your head to the front to listen for directions.

Iruka: Class, that’s lunch. You’re free to go, but remember not to eat too
much. We’re practicing our aim afterwards. But don’t worry. It’s expected to be a little off aim after a meal! Class dismissed!

You got up and headed toward the door and you ran into someone on accident. It was a girl with long pink, yes pink hair and emerald green eyes.

You: I’m sorry!

Pinky: It’s okay! It was an accident! Do you have anyone to sit by at lunch? I know you’re new so I thought you could use a friend!

You: Thank you. Yes I would like to sit by you. (SM You can be very polite in situations like these.)

Pinky: By the way, my name is Haruno Sakura!

You: Ren!

Sakura: I love your name! Well, we’d better not be late for lunch!

You and Sakura went out onto the playground and ate lunch on the swings. She was a nice girl who had a major crush on the guy who was spacing out through the window.

Sakura: *Sigh. * And his name is Uchiha Sasuke! All the girls love him, but the guys well, most are very jealous. He’s a ‘cool genius!’

You: He looks too cold for my liking. You can have him Sakura!

Sakura: I wish. There are soooo many girls in our class and there’s only ONE
of him! Ugh! That means he’s more likely to pick a pretty and somewhat smart girl out of the class.

You: Once again, he sounds too cold. Too cold to be interested in a girlfriend. He’s probably more focused on his studies than his social status. At least, that’s what I get out of it.

Sakura: Well, if he’s not reading a book on techniques then he’s practicing on targets with his aim. But he’s already the best in the class!

You: Really? I had to use a kunai or a shuriken just about every day of my life until about yesterday.

Sakura: Why?

You: Maybe I’ll tell you later, it’s kinda personal.

Sakura: Well, I’ve got time after school. Do you want to hang out then?

You: I’ve got some shopping to do and my reason goes with my story. So if you want to come with me. It’s better if you do too, because I really don’t know my way around.

Sakura: Okay, great! I can show you around!

You: So, tell me about that blond kid who came in late today.

Sakura: Oh, him? That’s just Uzumaki Naruto. He’s a class clown. He is always, ALWAYS, bragging about how he’ll be hokage someday. But no one likes the kid.

You: Why?

Sakura: No one likes him. He’s a total brat and he’s always causing trouble around the village. He certainly keeps the hokage busy!

You: He doesn’t look like a brat; he actually looks kinda lonely.

You glanced over at him and saw that he was just sitting on the swing all alone. So you finished a few bites of lunch and went over there.

Sakura: Hey? Where’re you going?!

You: I’m going to say hi!
You walked over to him and saw a spaced out look in his eyes. You bent down and waved.

You: Hello! I heard your name is Naruto. I don’t know if you were here when I came in, but I’m Ren.

Naruto: Hi, nice to meet you.

You: Why are you so down?

Naruto: Nobody likes me.

You: Why?

Naruto: Because of something I have inside of me.

You: What thing?

Naruto: A demon that wreaked havoc on the village 12 years ago.

You: I don’t have that. But I’ve gone through something like that, being shunned away. Except it was from everyone and anyone. Including my family.

Naruto: Well, I don’t have a family I live on my own.

You: Been there, done that. It sucks.

Naruto: Yeah. What do you have that’s similar to me?

You: *grins. * Maybe you’ll see someday. “Hopefully not…”

Naruto: Aw, that’s not fair!

You: Well, it’s not fun and it’s definitely not easy to go through and most
definitely not easy to control!

Naruto: Fine.

You: That won’t get in the way of us getting along, would it?

Naruto: *Looks up curiously. * You want to be friends with me?

You: I really don’t have that many friends. I really don’t have friends at all to tell you the truth. I have two acquaintances and a guardian. One acquaintance would be Sakura over there. And the other is you.

Naruto: Oh. When’d you get here?

You: Sometime yesterday.

Naruto: Where’d you use to live?

You: That goes along with the explanation of that thing.
Then the bell rang. Kids started running back in while others walked. You got up from sitting on the ground and walked with Naruto back in.

Naruto: Well, I guess I’ll learn more about you later. See you in class!

You: Nice meeting you.

Naruto: Same here believe it!
You walked behind him into class and you took your seat again.

Iruka: Class, it’s time for target practice. If you have any throwing weapons go get them now. Others who don’t have weapons come up to the front of the room and I’ll give you each three.

You walked up to the front of the class, followed by a girl with short blue hair and pretty light purple eyes. She looked very shy. You said hi to her and she waved back. Along with Sakura and a boy with a hoodie jacket and really bushy hair. There was one more with a long overcoat and sunglasses.

You: “He mustn’t have gotten the memo that sunglasses inside aren’t as cool as they’re hyped up to be.”

Iruka dug through a drawer and got out about 12 kunai, three for each. He passed them out accordingly and he directed you outside to the targets. You stood at the very back with this girl.

?: *Quietly.* My name is Hinata. What’s your name?

You: My name is Ren. You look nervous. What’s so nerve-wracking?

Hinata: Oh I’m not nervous. I always get this way when I’m about to throw. I
almost always miss.

You: That’s okay, you’ll improve with practice.

Hinata: Thanks for the encouragement. I appreciate it!

You: No problem. I really do believe you can hit the target, though. So don’t think I’m just saying things to make you feel better, I don’t do that.

Hinata: *Chuckles.* Well, thank you, Ren.

Iruka: Okay, you know the drill, but since we have some slackers and a new student I will explain again.

The class groaned slightly.

Iruka: Hey you do it right and I won’t have to explain! Okay, take your kunai and hold it by your ear, the end is always held by your fingertips. You swing it over and throw with your whole arm. With good aim you should be able to hit the target. And with really good aim you should be able to hit the center! Let’s have the first person up. Sakura Haruno.

Sakura moved up to the line and did the technique she was shown. She hit
the third stripe on the five-stripe target. The other two times got the stripe outside of that one. After that, the person who was behind her went and did pretty okay. After that you stopped paying attention until Sasuke Uchiha was up. You wanted to see if he was as cool of a genius the girls had bragged about. He hit the center circle but not the exact center all three times. The entire girl population in the class swooned except for you. You were watching his technique. You were going to compare your technique with his. You were too busy thinking to notice that it was your turn to go.

Iruka: Ren! It’s your turn to go! Step up to the line and throw.

You: Yep, okay.

You were going to try Sasuke’s technique. It hit the same spot as him. He had a stance that was to close in; you observed that his breathing made it off. So you tried the technique you observed from your sister. You widened your stance and squared your shoulders; you breathed in and breathed out and let go of the kunai with the breeze. It hit the exact middle. You heard slight gasps; you rolled your eyes and did it again.

Iruka: Very nice job, Ren! Go gather your kunais and go to the back.

You: Yes, sir.

So everybody got done and a few went again but then the bell rang. You went up to give Iruka your kunai and Iruka shook his head and smiled.

Iruka: It looks like you can put these to good use. I want you to keep these. I know the others have kunai but left them at home, but I’m not so sure about you. Where did you learn your technique? It’s remarkable.

You: Thank you. I learned from watching my older sister. I was never taught but I copied from my sister. I was comparing techniques, actually.

Iruka: Yours with whose?

You: Sasuke’s. My technique proved to be better so maybe someday I’ll be able to help him.

Iruka: Well, that technique not a Konoha technique. Where did you come from?

You: I learned my technique in Otafuku.

Iruka: Oh. Well, you are a very interesting person, Ren! I hope to see you do well in the final beginners test next week.

You: Thank you sir.

You met up with Sakura and she smiled and then started to talk.

Sakura: How’d you learn to throw like that?

You: I used Sasuke’s technique and then I used mine.

Sakura: Oh, wait. Your technique is better than Sasuke’s? That can’t be, he learned from his father who was a war general!

You: I guess my technique is better. I’m not trying to be better. I was just seeing if his was better than mine.

Sakura: Well, I can’t blame you for being good. Let’s go!

You: I need to do some shopping. But first I need to go home and get some money my guardian left for me.

Sakura: You don’t live with your family?

You: My family was abusive.

Sakura: Oh! I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have asked.

You: Actually, on night when I was out for a walk, I saw my house on fire. Everybody was trapped inside and they all died so I had the guilt of the only survivor.

Sakura: Well then where did you live after that?

You: I lived in a forest all by myself for about 5 years, then my guardian found
me and asked me to live with him! He treats me like his own.

Sakura: Five years! I couldn’t handle it for five days much less 5 years!

You: That’s kinda how I got so good with the kunai. I had to hunt for my food every day.

Sakura: Wait, if you ran away five years ago, how do you still have fitting clothes?

You: I stole them from my older sister the night I left.

Sakura: Oh. Well that’s reason enough to go shopping! Let’s go!

You: Okay!

Hey, it's the writer, I've decided to skip one chapter that was just pointless. It was basically explaining what Ren buys and how she has to basically put a front on to feel accepted by Sakura.
