~Chapter Three~
The man in black, eyes closed and body still on the other side of the room was spread out on the floor. Everything was silent except for some birds tweeting happily outside the smashed window. One of his fingers twitched as he opened his eyes, feeling as if he had died and come back to life. His legs were numb so he used his arms to slide across the floor over to the motionless girl by the window. He smiled, and said to himself, "Haha! I'm so proud of myself!"
He put his hand under her head and pulled something out. It looked like a very small needle. The second he did Mitsuki woke up, taking a gasp full of air. "What...." She said weakly before she passed out onto the floor. The man in black sighed and picked her up in his arms. He leaped out the window and into the city, surrounded by people, where it would be least likely that someone would attack again.
He put her down under a tree and sat next to her, waiting for her to wake up. Hours past, and the man in black fell asleep by the time Mitsuki got up. She looked over to him, thoughts spiralling in her head. Her gaze moved from him to the sky. 'How am I still alive?' She thought, 'Didn't I die last night?'
The man in black was waking up and Mitsuki hid behind the tree, afraid of what he could do to her. After last night, she could trust no one. He sat up straight, looked around and got up. She was holding her breath, praying that he'd walk away. He flashed away, only to re-appear beside her at a respectable distance.
Somehow, Mitsuki didn't feel scared by him; she felt relaxed and calm, "Um, hello," she said.
"I'm not gonna kill you," he replied.
Mitsuki thought for a moment, "You're that guy who saved me last night, aren't you?" She ran up to him and gave him a hug. He froze with amazement. "What's your name?" Mitsuki asked, rejoicing in her head.
"Emori - and there's no need to tell me yours. You're safe now, so my job is done." He disappeared again in a flash of bright light, but this time he didn't materialise. Her smile turned serious as she cried out, "PLEASE HELP ME! I NEED PROTECTING, YOU SAW WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT, DIDN'T YOU??!!!"
She whimpered as she lay against the tree and started to cry, "Please, Emori, I need you."
