It makes since that she can't control the beast because Hagoromo created the beast after her sealing. She should have no knowledge of the beast. Black zetsu not really understanding what she is makes sense too because this form is new to them both.Kishi was smart to throw a curve ball not even the villains saw coming. People bash Kishi's decisions but I love what he's created it's an all around great story to me.
