Princess Kaguya had a father, he was from a planet called Kritaon where ancient beings used to live, they had a lifespans of 12000 years and where known throughout the universe as powerfull and wise creatures, they had an energy called Kjiitchi (spirit energy)
Her father was King Daichi Ōtsutsuki of Kritaon and he had three children, one was Princess Kaguya, and two other brothers, Prince Etsuko & Crownprince Ken'Ichi. Etsuko was the youngest of the two and would stand without a throne. His older brother Ken'Ichi would take over the throne from his father when he dies. Etsuko did not like being throneless and decided to split with the family and migrated from Kritaon to planet to earth. The Kritao’s are «soulborn» creatures, having the ability to migrate through Kjiitchi energy from planet to planet, through vast space and time. (Hagoromo would later inherited this ability from his mother). This is an ability only those with Kritaon blood have.
Earth was empty when Prince Etsuko arrived so he used Kjiitchi to give life to the planet. After 900 years life was thriving on earth, creatures and nature lived in peace, and here Prince Etsuko was a self proclaimed King. He used his Kjiitchi (Soul spirit energy) to plant trees and give life to earth. One of these trees was to become the Juubi tree and bloom a flower of pure chakra. (Chakra is the combination of earth's nature energy and Kjiitch energy)
Etsuko didn't yet know of this combination.
His sister, Princess Kaguya missed her little brother and wanted to have him back with the family on Kritaon. She went in search for him and after 230 years she found earth. Tired and exhausted she searched the planet for an energy source, thats when she saw a beautiful tree, the Juubi tree. Without any choice she resorted to eat the flower that had bloomed on the tree, that's when she accidentally discovered chakra . Chakra being the combination of Kjiitchi energy and earth’s nature energy. This gave her powers she could never have imagined, thus becoming more powerfull then everyone before her. Blinded by power she stopped looking for her brother and returned to her home planet with a new form, chakra form. She was revered as a godess now and was to be heir to the throne, even before her older brother.
While back at her home planet she realizes that her chakra was fading, after the years went by she slowly faded in power, and grew to become vile and obsessed. That’s when she decided to return to planet earth to seek out it’s chakra source again. This time she was pregnant with twin boys when departing from Kritaon. When she returns to earth she is confrontet by her brother and the ten tails. The ten tails is enraged with Kaguya beacause she stole it’s precious flower. Her brother asked her why she stole the beauty that he had created on this planet, the beauty of chakra? Her answer was not satisfactory and her punishment was to give her children to earth. This way her brother could create "human life" on earth by using Kaguyas children's bloodline. Knowing that they would have chakra and Kjiitchi in their blood they would be perfect for planet earth. Kaguya gave birth to the boys and when they where grown she was forever banished from the living world, doomed to roam around the spirit world.
At this time earth was thriving with human life, of every type and gender.
Her brother Etsuko's life was coming to an end, he gave the planet to the ten tails after his passing. It turned out that Kritaon's lifespan was drastically reduced when living on earth as they no longer could harness Kjiitchi energy.
The two brothers Hagoromo and Mitsuyo where now left alone without their mother, after learning of the ten tails judgement of Kaguya the two decided to take down the ten tails and harness it's power. Thus ruling the planet for themselves.
By using the combined power of chakra and Kjiitchi they managed to seal the Ten Tails and where now more powerfull then anyone on earth. They where seen as gods.
Hagoromo wanted to teach the people of earth about chakra and how to mold it into Ninshuu (Hagoromo's religion) so that everyone could live in peace.
His brother Mitsuyo had other ideas, he wanted to rule with an iron fist and show everyone that they where gods and to be feared.
In the end they had a showdown, Hagoromo used Ninshuu's ultimate weapon, Creation of all things to remove Mitsuyo's powers and chakra, thus making him just another normal being of earth. This was his greatest punishment.
Mitsuyo had his own children, what lineage they would become is unknown.
