As I've said over and over, pairing fans just keep falling for Kishi's trolling. Tons of fans follow this manga because of those pairings so Kishi will continue to lead them all on a wild goose chase until Naruto is at its end.
It has been: [Hinata ---> Naruto ---> Sakura ---> Sasuke] since the beginning of the manga, over 600 chapters ago, and it's still THE SAME THING. Each love is unrequited and will continue to be that way until Kishi ends the manga.
Think about it this way...if Kishimoto decided to officially pair Naruto and Hinata up, and completely dump NaruSaku in the garbage, imagine how many NS fans would stop supporting the manga? Of course they might still read it, but why would they waste their money on buying a manga they don't really like anymore when they can read it online (I'm talking 'bout Japanese people) or something. His sales would drop, and so would the popularity of the manga. And it's not like he doesn't have competition to worry about...he does -- One Piece & Bleach.
