the real reason is madara didn't believe anything again in reality,
he believe that uchiha will be exterminated if tobirama become a hokage,
but even his clan didn't believe in him.... he can't protect his brother even more he can't protect his clan...
then he found something that's he believe as a way out, he can achieve god's power if he can combine uchiha & senju power (yin & Yang)
as stated at uchiha tablet, and then he can cast infinite tyukoyomi to everyone to achieve peace
