Madara seemed to have a different attitude and completely different view on life as a kid as well.

Kishi turned Hashirama as an adult into a Goku like person and he turned Hashirama as a kid into a gohan type, dont you think so (at least looks wise)?

I have mixed feelings about the chapter. I found it cool to have a peek in the life of young Hashi and Madara, but I would have liked to know a bit more about jutsu in that time. Like what kind of jutsu did the Senju leader use for example and what was up with bringing in that Hagaromo clan all of a sudden?
