He just used the exact same jutsu as before. If he uses Kamui inside Obitos dimension, it would just open the other way. There isn't really anything new to it. And that he used it to absorb himself isn't something "new", but it is a bit weird he never tested this on a kage bunshin just to see where stuff goes when he uses kamui, lol... Plot ftw...
