...sort of disappointed that the Fairy Tail-members lost at Tenrou Island hasn't aged a bit? God, when I realized there was a timeskip I was so psyched for a big wooping return with our favorite characters, 7 years older and all grown up. I mean, the way Mashima chose to explain the events of the timeskip makes sense and whatnot. Freezing time, their perception of the timeskip being nothing but waking up after a nights sleep and all that. I just feel this sort of... awkward disappointment that it wasn't more thoroughly explained, that the obvious explanation was the actual explanation that Mashima would use.

Personality growth, new spells and magics, new appearances and outfits. I mean, all the same core but with a breath of fresh air. It's sort of early to be disappointed, but that's just the one thing I'd like to point out that would've made the new chapter and probably the consecutive arcs a whole lot more interesting. Say for instance, the feeling I got when reading the first Naruto chapter after the timeskip... seeing the same favorite character just older, reading how he'd grown in attitude and combat - seriously reignited my interest.

Oh well... who knows. I mean, there'd have to be a serious plot-tweak to justify them actually having aged, but it would be so worth it. Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I'm right there with you. At the moment I'm just wondering what the point in a time skip was. You time skip and two chapters later you find all your main characters exactly the same as before the time skip...WHY? It would've been better if they activated Fairy Teleportation and teleported the island to another sea away from Acnologia. The main thing that probably will have happened from the time skip is that the council likely doesn't hate Fairy Tail anymore because they became irrelevant after the Tenrou Island Incident.

I did not expect them to be 7 years older so I wasn't disappointed. But it feels a bit strange seeing others older and main cast not XD

I hope Mashima knows what he's doing, this whole thing seems risky XD

I prefer the current situation, if they actually were awake for 7 years it wouldn't make alot of sense as to why they didn't (try to) return yet.

This whole Fairy Sphere thing where they stay in a frozen state and don't age makes pretty much sense to me.

That's what I said. I mean, it wasn't exactly a challenge to predict that it would be like that, cause given the evidence that is currently the only thing that would make sense. The thing is, to me the real payoff of a timeskip is the opportunity to evolve certain characters and refresh a series with a lot more blank paper. It could have been more thorough in that it was in fact twisted in a manner that would be unexpected to us, and not just going with the easy way out.

That being said, a huge timeskip of 7 years doesn't really provide a lot of alternatives as to continuing the story. It would require some more complex plotlines, like a cross-dimension sort of spell.

I thought up to last week that they were trapped in another dimension...I anticipated that they would have trained in that time since they were unable to come home. I thought especially with the whole thing with Blue Pegasus that there would be a saga that involved getting to the other dimension and freeing the missing Fairy Tail members from there.
