He never said a little bit is canon what he said is this chapter is connected to the anime version a little bit. In other words he's not saying a part is only canon and is is not denying more is canon.

It was obvious when the manga released. Boruto talked about his trip. Why are people fighting over it? :lol

They want the arc to be filler even though it’s confirmed canon . They can never accept anime as canon

So it's official just waiting for the academy characters to make manga debut but I guess we have to wait for there anime character arcs to finish

by a little bit he means not the actual fact of it being canon (which it is since he is referring to it in the manga) what he means that a little bit of that story will carry over with the events we are seeing in the manga

so not everyone will show up like Sugeitsu or the Kage dude or even the swords, etc... but likely Ao wasn't to happy about the changes or felt left out when he returned and couldn't help rebuild since he was likely in therapy for most of that time
