Madara sent the chakra rods using bansho tenin. He then used preta path to absorb the technique.

Chakra rods alone cannot stop Amaterasu. We know that chakra rods are used as receivers, so Madara simply did what Nagato does with his Paths.

Shinra Tensei would have been more logical. Banshō Ten'in's ability is the exact opposite of what you want it to do.

In any case the rods are used as chakra transmitters, they can't use the Paths' abilities.

Well you have no proof. I can say that Nagato transfered his soul into those rods the same way minato and kushina did with naruto, but it's still wrong. There's little to nothing confirming what you believe.

He certainly didn't shoot the chakra rods out with Bansho Tenin to use Preta-Path through them. It's just that the Rinnegan's powerful chakra runs through the rods and thus, the flames chakra was destabilized when coming near to them.
