Chakra Release - Type Affinity's. (First Post)

I apologize if I ended up doing this in the wrong place, but the question is:
How is Naruto able to use so many Chakra types? Unless I was reading incorrectly, is it only because he's a Nature type? I've begun to rewatch/reread the series and Manga, and came across some information while studying the character profiles. Here I noticed he had several types, unlike others, and a good portion of them were incompatible with the other types.

The tailed beasts had chakra types of their own, and since he had their chakra inside him he was able to use their chakra types.
