The Jutsu Kakazu uses are ranked as B rank, does that mean to use B rank jutsu in an element you need a natural affinity?

What are your thoughts on the matter and do you think the Boruto manga will follow a similar pattern?

I accept there may be exceptional ninja who break this rule like Uchiha inheriting the sages powerful chakra etc.

You might wonder why kakuzu's technique is a B rank while even rasengan or rasenshuriken are A rank and S rank respectively.
It's because of his forbidden jutsu earth grudge fear which is a spiritual jutsu.
The databook says "He converts the hearts into masks" which means the black creature is the entire heart not the heart inside the black creature. Those creatures can also move and think at thier will clearly proving they are spirits.

The elemental jutsus itself are low level but the earth grudge fear induces spirit into it making them S-rank.

I think it's more like a guideline than a rule to be honest. I could have sworn Kakashi had two A-rank techs as early as the first arc. Chidori and his water vortex jutsu are both a-rank right?

As for Kakashi if I'm not mistaken in the early manga kishi overpowered Kakashi and some characters. That's why they never used certain techniques again. It was far later when kishi started to write strategy and plan things out he started restricting the abilities.

Yeah true Kakashi never used water vortex ever again I don't think lol. It will stay reserved for geniuses/main characters I reckon.

the water vortex/water dragon? he needs a body of water to do it. Something kakashi has never been anywhere near throughout all of part 2. You can make the argument that he can pull a kisame but his reserves can't support that

Well, Kakuzu's elemental transformation was different, since it's linked to his unique Jutsu; he taps into the mask's Chakra network and casts the Jutsu. Those masks were former high level Shinobi with natural affinity, if I recall this was what I read. And to be honest, I wouldn't trust the databook in ranking regards for this case, since Kakashi said Kakuzu's Jutsu was high ranking and they were shown to be in large scale.

Considering the large plot-holes in the original manga, I doubt Kishimoto will be consistent in the Boruto manga.

Naw, naruto first opened up his wind elemental affinity with a A-S rank move and Sasuke the same with Lightning (chidori) as a genin. Having a natural affinity can rank up from C to forbidden S, the ranking only stands for the threat level or how strong that one jutsu you used really is.

I think this applies to all 7 elements

I don't disagree with that regarding natural elements. I was just wondering is the bar set at B rank and above? At a lower level Kakashi indirectly implies elements can be learnt.
