I've been quite busy lately, my apologies. Seeing as you are new to the RP I'll help you. In moves you want to be a descriptive as you can while still staying in character. For example, some characters will be cocky, such as my Ichigo bio. Others can be shy, or tactical and so on. I'll give you an example of how it should be.
As Ichigo walks onto the field he notices a man who wielded a large sword on his back. Without speaking the man threw several flames toward Ichigo, not having much time to react to the sudden attack, Ichigo quickly raises his left arm while releasing his water chakra, creating a shield of water that stops all the fpames from hitting Ichigo or causing any damage to the tree's behind him.
A lot of the more experienced RPers can literally paint an extremely vivid picture in your mind of how the battle is happening. I am not that experienced and am rather new myself to the RP, so sadly I can not actually teach you. But if you need help going over the elements or a special ability you may want, don't hesitate to ask. My VM's and my Skype are always on.
Enough ranting, try to be descriptive. That's how you win battles.

*Seeing How well his opponent blocked the first attack he stops running just about 20 meters away and pulls out a Sword Slowly as he stares and analyze his opponent.*
Chojuro asks* "Where did you come from and what are your intentions here"
*As he asks this question he assumes the worst and prepares to make his second move depending on the opponent's response*
