Kenpachi is a tall, muscular Samurai with a wild and aggressive appearance, which fits his personality. He has a long face with pronounced cheekbones, and pronounced, hairless eyebrow ridges. He has green eyes and long, stringy black hair. A noticeable trait in his appearance is a long, thin scar running down the left side of his face, which he gained before finding his future lieutenant, Yachiru Kusajishi; it is later revealed to have been inflicted by Retsu Unohana. He is one of the tallest Samurai, towering at 202 centimeters (approximately 6 feet 6 inches), making him almost double the height of his lieutenant. ​

Personality:

Although he is known to be a violent fighter, Kenpachi's actions tend to be for the best. He has a very poor sense of direction, at times asking Yachiru for help (even though her sense of direction is just as bad). Kenpachi lives for battle, and enjoys a good fight more than anything. He even holds back in an effort to make any fight last longer. He claims injury and death are nothing but the price one pays for a good fight. Despite his division being the most blood-thirsty squad of the Gotei 13, the 11th Division has its own code of ethics, which is different from the rules and regulation of Land of Iron.

Despite his tendency to be brutal, Kenpachi usually stops a fight if his opponent is too injured to fight back, claiming he is not interested in fighting "weaklings who can't fight anymore", and he does not feel obligated to deal a death blow to anyone who cannot fight any longer. However, he will unhesitatingly kill his opponent if they refuse to end their fight, as seen during his battles with Kaname Tosen and Nnoitra Gilga. ​

Kenpachi was born in the Land of Iron, he was a orphan and he never heard about his family, he stayed lonely until a Samurai named Genji told him who was his father, he told him that his father is still alive and he's a Samurai like him, Kenpachi was angry because they never told him that his father is alive and he was angry because his father never searched for him, for his only son, but Genji told him that his father searched for him but after searching 2-3 years he believed that you're dead and gived up in looking for you but he was very angry in himself that he leaved you, this thing relieved and maked Kenpachi happy, but he wanted to know his father's name, Genji knowed that he'll ask him this question so he sayed to Kenpachi that when he joins Samurais he'll tell him and personally meet him, this thing maked Kenpachi happy and he accepted his offer and joined Samurais now he's training hard to become strong so he could face his father, after 3 years of training, Genji told him that the time to meet his father is coming, Kenpachi was very happy, when he told that his father's name was Saito Hajime he was very shocked because he heard that name, he was one of the best Samurais in the Land of Iron, he was very proud of it and Genji told him that Saito is in his way to him, after 3 hours he saw a tall man in front of him he was very shocked and he knowed that he was Saito Hajime his father and in the moment that Kenpachi saw his father a tear comed from his and his father's eye and he opened his mouth and sayed "Fa-Father is that you ?!?! and his father hugged him with a tear in his eye.
