History: Malik was born and raised in the Land of Fire, at a time when it was a country with an extremely unstable political climate backed by military strength. Desiring to reform the country from within, he joined the Land of Fire's military, where he met and became friends with Kuruto and Kanna, both of whom held the same motivation. Around several months before the Uchiha Massacre takes place, they formed a rebel movement to overthrow the Hokage, who had come into power as the ruler of the Land of Fire. During this time, Kanna was somehow able to obtain sensitive information that would aid their rebellious acts. Kuruto eventually revealed to Malik that she was able to do so because she is a relative of the then-Hokage. Worried for her safety, Malik tried to convince Kanna to leave the movement. However, she refused and was able to acquire important documents detailing the location of Konohagakure's supplies. Kanna was killed by ANBU while giving these documents to Malik. Despite the movement continuing afterward leading to the Uchiha Massacre, Malik was no longer as dedicated to it as he once was, and the revolution eventually failed due to a spy from within. Malik soon left the Land of Fire behind and started a new life in Kirigakure, joining its ninja academy as an instructor. However it was months later that he heard about the Massacre and felt disheartened to know his family and those he knew were gone. After initiating his own investigation, he soon found out that the village then entered into a time of prosperity. He decided to head back to Konohagakure after many years and speak with the then Hokage, John Reese. He packed his things and headed on towards the place he once decided to betray.
