I was thinkin' and wonderin' about the Shandorans and the Skypieans.
The Skypieans have wings, right?
But so do the Shandorans.
Now, the Shandorans had wings even before they got blown into the sky.
Could they be distantly related to the Skypieans??
I remember someone (it was either the priest to Calgara or Calgara to Norland) mentioning that the Shandorans' "spirits of our ancestors flew into the sky long ago." Ever since I've been thinking about that. It would explain why the Shandorans and the native Skypieans both had wings, right?
And perhaps the establishment of Skypiea has something to do with the Blank Century/Great War mentioned here by Robin.
Nami did say that the balloon/flat sea creatures in the White Sea had "evolved" to adapt to life in the clouds.
And what's up with those dials?
Your thoughts?
