I have the same problem sometimes,I think that happens if you give so much rep and you dont get rep

Reputation is disabled in Chatterbox and Forum Games. I'm guessing that's what you're talking about judging from your replies in this thread.

As said there are some sections where you can't give out reputation, so that might be the reason.
