The greatest part of any series is when the villain appears to be defeated, but then it comes back even more powerful then before, or when you think you achieve victory over a opponent/problem/life situation, then a greater problem arises, that makes the heroes will nearly crumble, just to come back from the brink of nothingness to pull back a astonishing victory.

Well it's usually the most epic parts yes. Like in my favorite manga, the best parts are when the hero reveals his master plan.

But I've seen a few stories where the main characters dies part way through the series, and the second protagonist is connected to the first in some way (in a way that hypes the first). You don't appreciate them until they're gone...

I used to but it can get old after a while. I mean I can see it like 1 or 2 times during an anime/manga but multipl eit starts to get irritating. And yes I realize Dragonball was probably the worst or best at this depending on your view of this statement I am gonna go with worst.
