You seem to have comprehension issues, so let's go with mathematical symbols if there is any hope for you to get it

A = World Strongest Swordsman
B = Random Swordsman

That random swordsman has multiple art of fightings under his belt where he is at

B1 = 2nd strongest swordsman
B2 = boxing at the level of his swordsmanship
B3 = kicking just below his swordsmanship and boxing
B4 = levels below his swordsmanship and boxing
B5 = Weakest at taikwendo

It would result in

A > B1 = B2 > B3 >>> B4 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> B5

In this case then, if he were to fight A, it doesn't matter which fighting style he'd chose. He'd still lose. What would matter is to which extent he'd lose. If he goes B1, he may lose shortly. If he choses B2, he may lose the same. If he choses B3, the gap will be more signficant. If he choses B4, he'd trash. If he choses B5, it would be a waste of time

Get it now?
None of that even remotely refutes the example presented. You're just creating rules to suit your stance. If your skill in one form is lower than another that's not a guarantee it won't perform better against specific enemies. You're opponent can be the best Karate master and you can have mediocre tai chi, if he doesn't know how to handle tai chi then you can still beat him despite using a form you are less skilled with. That's how upsets work. It's not my fault your trying to live by rationale and mathematics in regards to a fight(which relies heavy on chance) and a manga(which relies heavy on fiction)

Yonko is the Captain, if he was captured by Yonko then it would be 1 vs 1, if he was captured by Yonko crew than it would not be 1 vs 1. But considering it says alone, it could be that he fought against whole crew.

Either way, that wasn't the thing I was referring to. Box you posted said he was captured 18 times, but narrator's box before one you posted said he was defeated 7 times and that's what I am referring to.

Those 7 defeats should be included in the captures.

Getting captured doesn't have to mean you were defeated. Not to mention those 7 defeats of his span his entire lifetime, they don't say anything. He could have been defeated 0 times after he became a Yonkou heck even becoming a Yonkou he could have just recently become the strongest of the Yonkou.

So the 7 defeats takes nothing away from him being the current strongest in a 1v1, which is a manga fact.

I never said it would effect his status as WSS if he lost to someone in these scenarios, just that he could lose. Yes Kalifa won the fight against Sanji thanks to his principles. You can try to spin why he lost however you'd like fact is he lost. Doesn't make him weaker just means he couldn't win that fight despite being superior to his opponent in multiple areas, there was one key area where he lacked compared to his opponent and that resulted in his defeat.

If that's how you see it, then I guess there is no arguing against it. The manga made it clear that a person is considered to be the strongest only when he knows no equal in a fight. It was boosted even further by the description given about Kadio's status in one on one scenario's.

Exactly in what way is me thinking one of the most reputed characters has a means to beat an opponent who outclasses him in swordplay, "fanboying"? I'll wait. Also Shanks doesn't ONLY have a sword, he has boushu and Conq. Haki the latter has still yet to be elaborated on how it can effect battles. So until we learn the limits of what Conq. Haki can do in a fight there's a chance that can overcome Mihawk's swords in an all out fight between the two.

Newgate, Mingo, Chinjao, Hancock etc WTF has the Conqr's Haki did to help a battle vs a strong opponent ??? DAFUQ You're so desperate to say Shanks has more than a sword that you're a card that was never useful before :|

Your desperation is cringe worthy :| Zoro was taught by mihawk Armament Haki, I still say he has only a sword going out for him :|

Do you really believe Oda is done explaining the use of the haki he deemed 1 in a million? Are you trying to play off Conq as a mediocre power because it hasn't been showcased yet? Boushu haki hadn't been explained well early either and we see how important it was in fights in the future. A clash between two strong Conq Haki's literally affected the environment around them, it's clearly gonna have something to offer in battles beyond making weak willed opponents pass out.

The only fanboying and cringe here is you so desperate to hold on to Mihawk's title and honor that you think any mention that someone could beat him is equivalent to saying Mihawk is a jobber.

No the difference here is that me: Manga Fact: Mihawk is the WSS and You: "Shanks surely can use something other than a sword"

I use a manga fact and you use a "feeling"

Let's make one thing clear here. Are you just trying to say that Mihawk won't always be the winner just because he's overall stronger? Or that Shanks should be considered overall stronger than Mihawk because he can win in a fight with him? What is it? We all know winner in a fight isn't always the stronger Or Stronger won't always be a winner. But you're not making your stance clear here. Is Mihawk overall stronger than Shanks and still lose to Shanks because of some broken ability? Or Is Mihawk weaker than Shanks as he had him beaten when he uses something other than swordsmanship?

Let's forgot about who wins in a fight as it'd always be circumstantial, Let's talk about who's actually a superior fighter as a whole. Who are you implying to be stronger here?

At least you dropped that Conq. is useless in battles nonsense you were trying to use. And for the record the only manga fact you are using is that Mihawk owns the WSS title, this bit about that meaning he can beat any top tier who uses a sword regardless of what else they have to offer in a fight is an assumption based on fan interpretation of the title until shown or stated. And this is the core argument, how to define WSS.

You guys keep bringing up Shanks but it doesn't even have to be Shanks, Shanks is just the most likely and known about character to theorize with. What happens to this argument if it turns out Kaidou uses a sword? He is shadow ruling Wano after all(and has a bit of a edo era/samurai feel) there's a chance he learned swordsmanship from Wano. If that were the case, Mihawk would still be able to best him in swordsmanship but would he beat him?

Really? I thought I had been pretty forward with it.

I'm saying the former and I'm saying we can't know who's actually all around stronger between the two until we see some top tier fight from either/both. Mihawk is undoubtedly above him in sword but I don't agree with you guys' interpretation of his title and it meaning he can absolutely automatically overcome an opponents other fighting methods just because he could best them with his sword. Shanks may not be able to beat him but that doesn't mean someone can't, we're all getting too hung up on using Shanks as a specific example when I'm not claiming to know as fact anyone in particular can do it I just don't believe the title closes the door to the possibility as some do.

Let's be honest here. The only reason you're against Mihawk's title is because your little Shanks fall on the category below him. If Shanks had that title, this wouldn't have been debated at all. For same reason these little Shanks wankers also debate Whitebeard and Kaido's title. As long as manga would continuously place characters above Shanks due to their title, there will always be this atmosphere of denial among you folks. That's why i can't wait for something like a fb where Mihawk defeats Shanks for the WSS title for this shitty denial to finally stop and see you guys continue with your stupid whining or coming up with useless excuses

Yes it would because for the something like 30th time, I'm not arguing for Shanks>Mihawk I'm arguing against your loose interpretation of WSS. The only defense people like you and Hashi have left is resorting to playground insults trying to call me "fanboy" when I don't even care that much about Shanks, he's in the story so little. Shanks is brought up because he's the most likely of the characters we know to be able to meet this situation, simple and plain, but there's also people like Fuji. It's you guys who keep bringing up Shanks leading me to reply based on Shanks' info.

And please, if you want to talk personals, I see you get overly defensive and standoffish just because someone says they don't like Mihawk and then when others say they think there's a chance Mihawk might lose a fight you chalk it up to being because they dislike Mihawk as a character, child please. get your ego in check.

For same reason these little Shanks wankers also debate Whitebeard and Kaido's title.
I've not once said Shanks would be able to surpass Kaidou or WB's title, I even said in this thread their titles are above Mihawk's as they are an all encompassing title that include all aspects of a fight whereas Mihawk's title refers to a specific area of a fight.

Unless the fight for WSS includes multiple facets of fighting it wouldn't prove anything and that's what I've been saying. If it's only a sword fight then that neither proves nor disproves that he could be beaten with other methods by the same opponent he beat in swords.

Shank is primarily a swordsman fam. At best, his other methods will only be equal to his swordmanship, which would mean they'd still fail to Mihawk. Nothing in the manga suggests otherwise as of yet.
