[Suggestion] Can we have Achievements on NB?

some websites have Achievements (small badges) that you get notified for if you do certain things
for example,
- if u reach a certain rank you gain that rank as an Achievement
- if you post a thread and nobody posts for a few days, you could gain the "Lonely" Achievement
- if you get a hot thread for the first time, you can get the "Popular" Achievement
- if you get 5 hot threads you can get the "Hot" Achievement
- if you get 10 you get the "Famous" Achievement
- if you get a certain amount of likes, you can get the "Likable" Achievement
etc. etc.

and on some websites all Achievements have a set amount of points that you can get
they can show on your profile for people to see

i got this idea because lots of websites have an Achievement system, even PornHub has it

idk, maybe it'll make the website a bit more fun

I can only see troll threads getting such achievements. With others i'm cool, Would indeed make NB a bit more fun

I think awards(medals) already serve as achievements. For example, making an "epic" or good thread, you get tge epic thread award, the blue one with the flag. Being a helpful member, you get male/female of the month award. Spamming a lot into threads you get the bug award(ofc only if you stick to the global rules). If you randomly get a perfect post like 100th, 1000th, 500th page or post, you get the 100th page award with the bear. There are a lot of others which you can check them here :

People like mysterious, Exon and others are confused of what the Op is actually saying. Achievements and awards are different. An award will be ways below your information, on a thread. Achievements will be only available or shown case in your profile.

OP: I do agree with your idea, it's really great for those people who want to achieve stuff without trying to become a super beast to obtain it.

We already had achievements in the past, it was removed for a reason.
Not only was it basically just sugar on chocolate, but it was really bugged and messed up at times.
Here's a run down of some of them:

Get x number of friends (this one was especially bugged).
Been a member for 6 months, and a year (these were also bugged often times, being randomly given out to members having been here a month for instance).

There were some others too but can't really recall. They weren't carried over when NB went to the new bulletin, or maybe they were removed even before that. Bottom-line, if they were to make a comeback, a new, fresh idea needs to be implemented and the Staff needs to see the use of them other than leading to spam and other miss-behaviors.

Like Kumi and gifts, I don't see this returning at all.

Everyone knows those contests are rigged. The only fair one is FUB really. The same ppl win the same things over and over

Ppl have their lil chat groups outside NB and tell ppl "hey go vote for me". Ya'll really think ppl dont do that?

Take fanfiction for example, it doesnt matter how good a writer you are or how good your story is, the same ppl win it over and over just because they're known in that community

OT: if you do the achievement thing, just have it as a page on their profile or something, not in the award section under their avatar

This comment smells troll and jealousy a long, long way... You shouldn't throw accusations without actually knowing what you're talking about. Not only is that remark one of the biggest insults I've read personally in a long time, but it's also a insulting remark to not only the whole FanFiction community and the writers on NB, but also to the Contest holder, Lawliet as well.

In regards to the FF contest, there's a reason why a few members have more than the average award, and that is because they have been joining them for 3-5 years. Take me for instance. If I kept winning every time I joined, I should have had 12 x 5 = 60 awards by now. I know that's a little over the top because even I haven't written that many chapters on here, but I speak from experience when I say that there's a lot of people who come and go, but there's also some veterans hanging around, just like in the art, Signature, Album and Photo contests for example.

I can see trouble with some of the suggested uses for the achievement system, but the system itself doesn't sound bad.

Here are some other uses:

Bough your first month of premium

Bought premium for a friend

A month without any infractions

A month without any warnings

One for when a certain level of activity is reached over a set period of time

One for when your post gets liked/repped by an admin

One for when your post gets liked/repped by Versuvio

Then you can have your funny/mocking ones:

When a member hasn't received a VM/PM over a considerable amount of time

When a member has everything on their profile set to private (not sure how this will affect the servers if a lot of members set their profile to private at the same time just to get the achievement)

When a member has spent their entire day online

When a member haven't gotten any awards over a set period of time

When a member spend most of their time posting in one section?


These are just some off the top of my head. It's really up to the Admins' imagination. And of course, only they know what technical difficulties it will have trying to implement it into the new and improved NB.

I suppose it's something we can look into since it seems like quite a few is interested in having something like this. I will talk with V and look into what types of plugins that is already made for this, cause we won't be able to create our own from scratch as it will take a very long time.

Is there a way to make it less glitched and make more sense then? That should be the question, because if the answer is (still) no, then we all know the answer to this thread (especially us "old-timers."). The system was totally random and pointless, I don't think I got any of my achievements back then the right way as they just appeared out of nowhere.

Let's say you're going for a Veteran/Legendary achievement/trophy in a game and it randomly pops up when you complete the game on the easiest difficulty? Well that's how messed up it was back then Lol
