This will be a suicide mission for sure not a single human have been in Mars yet so we have no idea, what gonna happen to a human if they step in Mars but there's times that sacrifices must be made to progress and to know the unknown .

Human pussies wouldn't. they kno they'll shit their pants alone on mars leading them to prevent as much casualties as possible.
Oh im overexaggerating for sure, but this literally has the potential to be the start of a new society. It's like the law of the sea, as noble their cause is and how determined they must be- it'll be interesting to see a study on how the loss of laws affects a group of people. A little micro-society who work out how to live and how their microcosm will work for themselves.

Scary actually.

Indeed. All it takes is a little push to trigger the urge to kill someone before realizing the penalty, but on mars there are no laws to which you are bound to. You can do whatever you want. Human nature shall reveal itself when left to roam a place with no rules. Everything is permitted, sounds interesting indeed. If it does turn out that way, humanity shall learn that laws are the reason why we all sleep safely at night, at least some of us.

Yes, because being in space and going to another planet is in of itself not cool enough. Interstellar travel, how mundane.
I get to go to another planet when my planet is already dead is a different thing. I have a chance to save my life and other's as well.
I get a chance to go to another planet and have an option of coming back , even after 10 years. Cool beans. An adventure.

I get a chance to go to a planet with nothing on it and only a few people and I can never come back . why ? What do I achieve ? Assess

Yea I must admit she seems hyped over the wrong kind of advantage. I guess they've decided to take it for us.

Something tells me it might end in tragedy.

Scapegoats? Do tell me more about how these people are scapegoats and are not paving the way for something bigger.

I know right....INTERSTELLAR!

Lol no arguments here.
Even scapegoats pave a way for something bigger. The thing is that the bigger thing does not help these 'scapegoats' but other people.
Here it may help humans, who at the least would evacuate planet in 70+ years. We can analyze and gain experience. Here 'we' are the earthlings. However the first few batches in Mars , they are just experimental subjects.

I doubt this mission is legit as I doubt they have the necessary support for such a mission by the astronautical associations so I will comment on it from a theoretical standpoint.

Any such mission will/should never take place if the scientist think that the possibility of them dying there is high. We are in no hurry to learn about Mars after all, not only because he isn't even a suitable planet to live there compared to some of his satellites, but also because amazingly we haven't destroyed our own planet yet, and we should focus on not doing so any time soon.

On the other hand, if there really was a need to learn about a new planet because we had serious plans to go and live there or send people to clonize it steadily then yes a medium risk / high reward mission would be acceptable. After all, no experiment goes well the first time.

Now, if people are willing to try living there so that we can slowly but steadily get results it's ok. It would be an amazing trip and experience for them and if the risk is too high, well they know it and generally people who participate in such experiments are not the average person.

What exactly would they do if they tried to have ***?
I also said the same thing. If one is on a planet where there is nothing to do and only talk to a few people, they would get close to some of them. Many people would get close to people of other ***. So after some time they wont give 2 shits about morality or promise or someone watching on a distant planet. They would f*ck if they feel like f*cking

Should we boldly accept the efforts of MarsOne to colonize an alien planet. Ice caps have been found on Mars albeit in permafrost but this means....that at one point in time the precious substance of life was indeed on the planet.
Not necessarily o-o.

OT:

I don't think this is legit. How do you propose they live there? Do you know how much food they would have to transport to support 1000 people for years? How would they breathe? Would they send them each enough oxygen to last them their entire lives? How about the radiation? The exceedingly cold temperature? What if someone gets sick? They'd have to take a lot of medicines with them. All in all, $5 billion is almost nothing. I don't think that'd support 20 people, let alone a 1000 lol. I think it'll be a very very long time before we are ready or able to colonize a new planet.

Well they have pods and certain form of oxygen producing algae can be grown on mars. The radiation is barred by both the living quarters and their specialized gears, what sickness? They are thoroughly examined before selection, defects even as sickle cell aren't allowed. And with a completely sterilized environment how'd they get sick? 5 Billion could actually budget for them if you ask me, you're seriously under estimating the power of the billions..

Well.... i'd start by sending only scientists as without a true hand of law it would turn out pretty bad up there.

As long as no one goes near any eggs we should be fine ...
