Yea I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but shikamaru is only 2nd to his father...and I'm not saying sasuke isn't intelligent but you need to get real here...just cause he researched snakes doesn't put him on shikamaru's level..and yes he beat Oro when Oro was just trying to take his body, not trying to kill sasuke...I'm not convinced sasuke could have beaten Oro coming at him with the intent to kill

Shikamaru's genius comes from not only being able to completely assess all of his enemies abilities and come up with over a hundred ways to beat them, but choosing the best one out of all of them. He is able to stay ten steps ahead of his opponent that way.

Sasuke is a great tactician and smart overall, but his genuis is in combat, not strategy. There is a difference. Plus Shikamaru has an IQ of over 200. There is no way that sasuke could ever even hope to be that smart.

No he isnt, especially not this current sasuke, but they are close.
Both were in the same class and sasuke graduated top and was hailed as the genius of that generation even before he activated his sharigan. Could argue shikamaru was lazy, but my point still stands.

Anyway both's intelligence cannot be measured because they excel at different things. But if we were to go by who excels more at their strongest field, shikamaru is a greater genius

If I remember correctly, Sasuke was the head of the class because of overall skills (ninjutsu,genjutsu, taijutsu, etc) In Intelligence, Sasuke was always behind Sakura and would have been behind Shikamaru if he gave a f**k.

Actually no... Sasuke ain't got shit on Shikamaru's abilities. In an all out battle, Sasuke will kick the shit out of Shikamaru, but only because he's so many times stronger... If it came down to a battle of intelligence, wits and deception... Shikamaru will always win hands down. I'd only rank maybe 3-4 characters at Shikamaru's level or higher.
