Can Uchiha use sage mode?

Well Madara used Hashi's sage mode, so to answer your question, yes. Uchiha's can use sage mode.

And I think he just didn't need it in the first place so he never bothered to figure it out.

However it is possible for an uchiha to use and manipulated already created senjutsu chakra.

I'm strictly referring to Uchiha, they don't have the body to absorb nature energy. Madara and Sasuke are the only Uchiha to have used Senjutsu. And Indra also had Senjutsu considering he inherited Hago's chakra and didn't have EMS. But having Senjutsu is not the same as using Sage Mode.

I would imagine that the number of Uchiha who would be able to sustain SM is quite small, given that even Madara needed Hashirama's cells to increase his vitality, and even in that instance he simply took it. He didn't manifest it himself, he simply took it from Hashirama.

I think they have the body that can adapt to Sage Mode, but I don't believe they have a body that can gather it.

Just speculation of course. Most Uchiha members who have took senjutsu whether it be from a curse seal, or someone else, have all used it well. Though, there is nothing that shows them being able to gather it. So idk

Without Hashi's cell they can not gather nature energy and become sage mode. Because their body cant handle the nature energy naturally, so their mainly focus on their eyes. Madara isnt stupid to not learn sagemode if he really can do it, he perfect kamui tech within second... That can only explain that his body wasnt ready for it.
Curse mark, hugo infuse is just adding nature energy to their body through another source, but they can not go into sage mode by gather/perfect balance nature energy by them self.
Senju linear and uchiha linear story has nothin to do with another clan, because the story is only about them.... Whether another person from another clan can master sage mode is completely different story.

Since natural energy is a highway to death when you don't know how to deal with it with proper training ( producing or manipulating it). But since it's " Bullsh*in war arc mess" with a big "screw you, here no fundamental rules are respected" from kishi it's not surprising...

The gathering and balancing of natural energy qualifier was only shown to be a pre-req for Toad Sages (you turn into a frog if you fail). We still don't know how the slug, dragon, and mokuton sage modes work. So yes.
