No he was in it for a second. lol. Tsukuyomi distorts time/space in the Genjutsu, it could be 3 days in his Genjutsu, but in the real world only a second has passed.

Edo Itachi used Tsukuyomi to command Kabuto to give him the signs to undo the edo tensei. I'm sure he can command some one while they're genjutsu'd to kill themselves too.
