Can Totsuka sword be held without susanoo?

Orochimaru said he had been searching for the totsuka sword for years but he doesn't have susanoo. So does it mean that the wielder doesn't need a susanoo to use the sword? Like maybe it'll kinda morph into the required size and length of whoever is wielding it, maybe? Does that mean totsuka sword isn't particularly a power of Itachi's susanoo but anyone can use it?? And does it also mean Itachi can use it without susanoo too?

It never was Itachi's power, he somehow found the sword and equipped it to his Susanoo.

So yeah, I guess it does morph into any size so Orochimaru can wield it.

Yes it can. But it would need a strong jutsu to remove it from itachi's sharringan.. oro, obito madara can do it.

Itachi found it. And it's liquid so I think that it can change its shape.

I doubt it. Totsuka Blade, along with Yata Mirror, are spiritual weapons so it would make sense if they could only be used by a manifested spirit like Susano'o.

That said, we don't even know how Itachi acquired the weapons. If he found it as a physical object, then it might indeed be wieldable without Susano'o, but the manga seems the suggest that the weapons were awakened as a part of Itachi's Susano'o (hence why Orochimaru could never find it).

No it was said to be sage of 6 paths weapon and he is considered god like figure so I mean itachi and orochimaru pales in comparison to him he was vet spiritual so he prob was an entity
So with tht being said only reason itachi can wield it is because he has a spiritual body (the Susanno) to carry it idk where he found it tho cuz oro was looking for it before he was born
Maybe u need a spiritual body to find it

Yes but Kishi would not allow it. He wants it to be exclusive to Susanno, if you read on mythology those weapon names and Sharigan tech names are all related.

It's weird that it only that it's only been showed during his final susanoo stage. ^^ what the guy above said that would make much sense.

there were probably uchiha before itachi whose susanoo had the same weapon. Since it is supposed to be a legendary spirit weapon it was probably written in Uchiha texts and seeing how Orochimaru deciphered the uchiha tablet we can assume that he found out about the totsuka blade through old uchiha texts and thought it was an item rather than a susanoo weapon.

Totsuka no Tsurugi is derived from Itachi's ocular powers: The Susano'o' as is Sasuke's bow and Madara's destruction incarnate swords. It is a spirit weapon with no physical form. Orochimaru was foolish to chase after it for that reason.
