Can Tobi's Genjutsu kill?

Having just been able to watch the few latest Naruto Shippuden it reminded me, did Tobi's Genjutsu kill Konan, or did she die related to the injuries she already had and Tobi was merely commenting on how little time she had left any ways.

He said "When this Genjutsu ends, you will die"

If it is a Genjutsu that kills, seems pretty powerful to me, maybe we will see it again? or help solve who Tobi is.

But yeah I am Pein is right. I didn't realise that genjutsu's killing people isn't a completely unique thing. So whether his Genjutsu killed her afterwards or he finished her off doesn't matter.
