I was just wondering because this world is so messed up. We have racism, war, genocide, gangs, politicians lying to us and being greedy, and many people are judgemental based on each other's looks. Things have gotten so much worse over the history of time and it seems like it's getting worse. It feels like the world is a lost cause. But if there was a way that we can achieve true peace, how could it happen? Can we stop all the pain this world is causing and band together?
You must really begin to think about what "peace" is.
Is an ant colony peaceful? In a sense - that represents what you hold to be peace. Ants of the same colony, for the most part, don't fight or conflict with each other. They all serve the purpose of the colony.
But here is the question - would you, as a human being with individual sentience, be happy as an ant?
The answer is no. You would never be at peace with your place in an ant colony. For starters - biology makes it impossible for human beings to be true hive minds at this point in time. You can have kids, and the biology is not set up for one human female to spawn a whole colony. You will always see your kids as your kids - the idea that they belong to some collective entity will never pan out in human neurology.
Humans are individuals. We have our own desires, our own passions, our own goals, and our own needs. That will always form the basis for conflicts between us.
The way to find peace is to look at how you handle those conflicts. Conflicts do not always have to be violent in nature, nor do they always have to be destructive influences. A conflict for power generation can induct new ideas into how to generate and harness power - or can inspire interest in making more efficient use of the power available (likely both). Not all conflicts must be resolved directly or immediately.
The reason why you seem to think it is impossible to achieve peace is because you believe you can envision a more perfect world than the one you are in. It's the pinnacle of human arrogance, and it is partly why so many people are suffering. We assume that we can create something better than the nature we were born into. The only way to make things better is to embrace our nature and learn how to manage it wisely.
