Can the new generation surpass the last?

You always hear the Jounin saying that the new generation will surpass the last, while that is true to some extent do you honestly believe it? Let's match some similar shinobi and see if they have the potential to become more powerful than the last generation:


Guy & Lee: At the moment I don't see Lee surpassing Guy. He's reckless and foolish, don't get me wrong he's one of the most powerful of the new generation but he doesn't have the intellect right now. Guy can be childish too but he always has a plan and he gets down to business but Lee stuffs up too much and he always runs out of stamina.


Naruto & Hashirama: This I definitely see happening! Naruto definitely has the potential to beat Hashirama. He's not that far from Hashirama's level in terms of power but he has a lot to learn.


Sasuke & Madara: This is a difficult one, why? Sasuke awakened his Sharinan at a younger age, he was at pre-Jounin level at the age of 13 and the age at which he awakened MS and all the benefits that came with it is astounding. Madara was 14-15 when he finally awakened his 1 Tomoe Sharingan (maybe 2 Tomoe, can't remember), he awakened MS after the age of 17 (later than Sasuke) but he had far better control over his jutsu and he is far more intelligent than Sasuke. Either way, I can see Sasuke surpassing Madara.



All the other fodder can't even dream of becoming stronger than last generation. Gaara is the only one that can gain a great power out of all the new shinobi. I'm not bashing but the following shinobi don't have the chance of reaching Kage level let alone match the previous generations:



Kiba
Hinata
Ino
Chouji (maybe)
Tenten
Temari
Kankuro


While most of the characters on that level are really strong I don't see any of them reaching Kakashi level. The strongest of them (Kankuro) can probably reach a little higher than Asuma.

I know they all have a lot to learn but they're one phase/timeskip away from the prime of their life!

Nah, I don't see her getting any type of Sage mode but I do see her at Asuma or Kurenai level in the future (already surpassed Kurenai.. maybe)

In terms of speed and power, Naruto already has surpassed Hashirama. The experience, intelligence & battle strength remains.

Sasuke will definitely surpass Madara!

Shikamaru can only do shadow binding technique tha is all

plus we haven't seen what prime hiruzen can do...

Sasuke and Naruto will surpass Hashirama and Madara for sure,that is pretty obvious... One of the themes od the manga is that the new generation gets stronger than the previous and bring peace.

Thats part of the point of the story ...they are alwasy saying that crap ....i really dont want the edo kages to fight the alliance battles , specially hashi ....they should at least ...seal the jubbi

as for the rest .....every konoha 10 member will surpass their senseis & naruto & sauske wil be the strongest

In Shounen its fairly common that the main characters surpass their predecesors. Naruto and Sasuke are pretty much guaranteed to surpass Hashirama and Madara, I just hope its done right.

Chouji surpassed his father already...
Temari's already the best futon user behind Naruto (of course Danzo isn't included because he's not alive) and was the leader against the Sandaime Raikage.
Hinata's getting a power-up. Just wait.

I think Rock Lee may surpass Guy (look at my avatar). The reason being, Rock Lee MAY be foolish, he may be silly but he this trait that will help him surpass Guy - he is determined. Heck, after Gaara crushed his arms and legs and he was told by doctors that he has no future as a shinobi, Rock Lee did the honey badger and didn't give a f*ck. He just when straight back to training. Also Rock Lee is only 17 and still has time to grow older and change.

Naruto: a 17 year old Brat is in charge of his side in the war and fighting the Uchiha Legend Madara in his Edo-prime body.... Yh, I think I will take my chances on the next generation

Their potential and battle experience is way greater than Old Generations, BUT the Old generations shinobi are badasses though
