Can someone explain itachis story?

i have been keeping up with everything naruto but i am so confused on itachi. first he was bad, then he was good. then he wanted his brother to kill him for not doing anything wrong, im super confused. if someone could explain itachi's deal (without writing an essay), that would be super helpful

Its like this, itachi was order by danzo to eliminate the uchiha to prevent war, and that sauske life will be gone along with the rest of his family, so itachi agreed with danzo and wiped out the uchiha on orders and to save the village and most importanly his lil brother, anyways by itachi doing this he made himself out to a villain who killed his family just to prove his skills, he wanted sauske to take vengance out on him by killing him to redeem the uchiha name

Itachi was born in the middle of a war which made him hate war
His clan planned a cuop'de etat against the village.
The elders of the village convinced him that killing his clan was the best thing to do, sonce the clan would die anyway in the war, and innocent people of Konoha would die too.
He killed his clan, but lied to Sasuke and left him alive cause he cared a lot for him and wanted him to become powerful, and if Sasuke would kill him, everyone would praise him as a hero.
He joined Akatsuki to keep an eye on them, and keep his reputation as a criminal and a traitor
Fought Sasuke and lost on purpose, and gave him some of his own power, like the EMS
His plan failed cause Sasuke thought the elders manipulated him into doing these things, spo he decided to take revenge on the village

Itachi was a good guy who took the role as a bad guy who killed his clan to stop war from happening who saved his little brother and hide secrets so that there would be no conflict.

He fled as a missing ninja so that he can join the Criminal organzation akataksui in order to spy on them to protect the leaf, and yes that was his secret mission to wipe the uchiha out

All you need to know is
- when you say itachi do refer to him as itachi sama cause
-he is a legend being that he is
-one of the strongest in the uchiha at a yound age
-which he left his clan and joined akatsuki and at that young age
-defeated a sanin with only genjutsu
-genjutsu is what he is skilled in not that he isnt powerful in other jutsu
-especially the katon:gokaku no jutsu, fire style:great fire ball tech though defeated by sasuke
-due to his illness he could have killed sasuke if he wanted even with the illness
-but he loves his bro so much that he gave in right before
-giving his bro powers, which make him a legend

Itachi loved peace as he saw war as a young boy

When his clan started to plan to take over the village he loved by force which could end up in a high number of victims he was ordered to take them out by a man who can twist people around his finger (danzo)

Itachi slauterged his clan but left Sasuke alive because he loved his little brother and had a deal with Danzo to let Sasuke live


By leaving the village Itachi both escaped the villagers hate (killing nakama is bad enough but a clan is worse) and gave Sasuke a goal to become strong for this would also enable Sasuke to defeat Itachi ridding him of his pain and let Sasuke get closure
