It wasn't Sasuke's own chidori though. It was a chidori created by the chakra of all nine bijuu. Of course it was going to be stronger than a normal chidori. As to why he used it with a susano, I imagine it will be a bit awkward, not to mention painful to clash directly with Naruto's Bijuu Avatar

A common misconception, Sasuke's Susano Chidori didn't match the power of Naruto's BD it simply set it off. Much like if someone shot the tip of a missile with a sniper bullet, sure it would explode but that doesn't mean that the bullet had as much power or was as destructive as the missile, get it?

He utilized that Chidori prior to acquiring the Tailed Beasts' chakra.
