As per the manga, both Rinnegan are necessary to awaken the Rinne Sharingan, by approaching the moon.

To effectively use it though, the chakra of a Juubi Jin is necessary.

Why is not true? Yes Kaguya's head was not inside Madara's head but in Naruto verse chakra moving inside body. One example is how Madara obtained Rinnegan. He put Hashirama's flash on his wound and years later he awoken the rinnegan after Indra and Ashura chakra finally mixed together completely.

And for the 3rd eye, only Kaguya awoken it from chakra fruit. Thats mean that third eye on Madara's forehead was Kaguya own eye and chakra because Madara was her Jin.

Because canonically, so far as I remember, all you need is to have the original pair of Rinnegan while being near the moon. That's all.

Like I said madara was wrong, BZ admitted to changing the tablet. Only someone possessed by kaguya and is meant to become her vessel can awaken it whether they have the rinnegan or not.

This is evidenced by hogoromo and obito never awakening it, despite both having the rinnegan
